Hyundai Blue Link comes to Apple Watch with remote car controls, locator tool

Hyundai has released a Blue Link app for the Apple Watch, bringing many of the same vehicle remote control features present in the Blue Link iPhone interface to Apple's first wearable.




Users of the app -- included with the iPhone software -- can start and stop their engine remotely, and lock or unlock doors. The app can also control some other car functions, for instance flashing lights to help spot a car at night.

A car finder links with Maps to more precisely locate a vehicle, and provides a specific address and distance. In instances of metered parking, drivers can set a timer and add any relevant notes.

One important feature of the Watch app is voice control, making it possible to skip the app's menu system.

To use the Watch app, people must not only have an iPhone but a Blue Link subscription and a vehicle compatible with the platform. The iPhone app itself is a free download.

    Except that it doesn't work unless you open the app on your iPhone and press login first. So now that I have the app open on my phone, why would I then use it from my watch? Pretty useless to have this on my watch. Hope they fix this EXTREMELY soon.

    My appeal to all car manufacturers whose automobiles are used not for only private use but for rental car companies should quickly include Apple Car-play and if possible android car-play so features like call, text, map and music can work seamlessly from phone to car entertainment info system.

    It's coming! Chevy will be one of the first with 14 of their models with CarPlay support for model year 2016. (I think GM was also the first to include aux in ports across all their cars starting in 2009.)

    Well would be more exciting if Hyundai offered the blue link option in Canada, not sure why we don't count up here in the north????????????
