    Ah, sweet!!!!! I was really freaked at the thought of having to pay $100/year just to keep my current email adress that everyone knows me as. No more complaining from me, thanks!

    This IS good news. This is the one thing (e-mail) people seemed most upset about, so maybe this will go along way toward placating (and silencing) some of the overwrought yelping that's been going on since about 8:30 this morning...

    Most people just want their e-mail to work and can take or leave the other stuff (iDisk, Homepage, etc.). Makes sense.

    Looks like 2 contraticting help pages, but I think it actually makes sense.



    If you have current iTools accounts, they become .mac trial accounts for the next 75 days. During these 75 days you many convert them to email only, entry level accounts. So, you should, it seems, be able to convert all your existing iTools accounts and maybe any you create in the next 75 days, to free email only accounts.



    After the 75 trial period, it seems you can no longer get free email only accounts. It would seem that you must sign up for at least 1 paid acount, which you may then use to create up to 10 email only accounts for $10/year/account. So, everyone with a current iTools account who it bitching and saying "oh, i only use email, that should be free forever", it looks like it will continue to be free for now, and your single bitch it gone. If all you care about is your free email, then you have it. Those that want other services, well i don't think SJ ever said all original iTools would be free for live, but perhaps he did say email.

    This is an HTML file for the .Mac pane of Help Viewer. All it's saying is that when you pay that extra $10 a year for that extra .mac email address, here's how you do it. This isn't for a free e-mail only mac.com account.

    It's saying you can't buy more space for your e-mail only account specifically since it's actually just using the space from the main account. Free memberships are gone forever, folks. When something's free, it is taken advantage of...I am guilty of having 3 or 4 iTools accounts myself. Apple doesn't have the infrastructure to offer free POP/IMAP mailboxes while also keeping everything working nicely...not with this many users.

    2 different help pages, 1 on how to add extra $10 email only accounts and another on how to convert *existing free trail* accounts into email only accounts.
