Then why do you keep coming back and responding, if you don't expect others to do the same?

Quoting the same nonsense from Slice - and your point?

Hell the fashion editor at the NY Times already returned hers.

"But here’s the thing: The watch isn’t actually a fashion accessory for the tech-happy. It’s a tech accessory pretending to be a fashion accessory. I just couldn’t fall for it"

    OUCH!

"But because I actually think I am the intended: a nontech person who wouldn’t otherwise have too many gadgets (a phone, an iPad, a laptop), but who could be seduced into buying another because of its desirability."

She got it wrong. It's not for her.

According to Slice there's been about 2 million Apple Watches sold in the US

This data shows that most the sales were to early adopters and fans who buy everything no matter what.
Now that this stream is depleted it is only going to get worse.

Pointless endeavour to be honest. Apple won't fail because blowhards of either persuasion post here.

My own view is that the Apple watch isn't selling as well as expected, notwithstanding the instant article.

It just doesn't seem to have the same 'buzz' about it online or offline. I know two people who have one. Oddly I've seen more Wear devices. Of course an anecdote doesn't make for a solid conclusion but that's what I've observed in my little field.

I was neither expressing disgust at this company nor was I not. I was merely saying that I could care less. I have no clue who they were then, or are now. They were likely doing it for clicks then, as now. Moreover, it was a discussion about 'shipments' versus 'sales' (which I don't expect you to get!). As for my view of "million" then, sorry to disappoint you, but it was simply based on a number of analyst reports that had come out by that point, which estimated Apple's initial sales from the many hundreds of thousands to the many millions (you're welcome to search for those stories, if you wish). It had nothing to do with some silly firm that I'd never heard of or knew existed.

You just confirmed my assessment of "by the moron, for the moron."

Really? How much less? It is hard to draw meaning from your post without knowing how much less you could care. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Or it could just be something crazy like the Apple Watch isn't selling all that well. Not every product Apple releases is going to be a home run. I"m willing to bet everyone on this forum has an iPhone, I'm also willing to bet they have a Mac. A high percentage most likely have or have owned an iPad.

I would be willing to bet if we had a poll on the forum and people were honest the vast majority don't own an Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch rollout was awful. Apple had an announcement in Sept, an event six months later followed by a wait for them to be released and then a 4-6 week wait. Followed by a delay hitting retail stores.

That has to be the worst rollout in Apple history.

Apple isn't releasing numbers because the numbers aren't good. Two weeks after the iPhone 6 was released Apple released all the pre-order numbers and the numbers for the first week. It's not like they don't have the numbers.

KGI - Ming Chi Kuo lowered his prediction in late May from 30 Million to 15 Million. One of the factors was tracking the production of the Taptic Engine.

If several sources are releasing information like this and Apple isn't responding then the numbers are worse then the bad press.

How on earth does it prove anything. I don't know anyone who has a S6 and yet they sold millions of them. The Iphone and Ipod sold 10 times less than that in its first 6 months. Did it have a buzz or not? Completely non sequitur post.

Right, a cross, 15M a year cross (you do know there are other countries than the US don't you). Poor you... ;-).

Don't become a TUAW apple insider, your reporting on a report that another company released. Leave the opinion out of it or you may find your self becoming most TUAWish.

It was questionable when they first reported high sales quite a while back so you can stuff that scenario in your pipe and smoke it. This is basically a "report" with questionable backing no matter how your "slice" it. With retail coming online as their "sales" were declining, those hacks won't even have the ability to dig up their trash numbers for attention in the near future. Because that's what this is, getting attention using Apple's name. Since Apple won'T report actual numbers until probably after the holiday season this year, they can BS anything they want and drum up business for their BS producing company.

It's been 74 days since the first Apple Watches started arriving. How many people on this forum owned an iPad after 74 days? How many owned an iPhone? How about a MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, PowerBook, iBook, iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro 74 days after the product went on sale? A "high percentage"? Fuçk no!

The Fashion Editor at America's version of Pravda has zero credibility. Anyone who thinks the NY Times is a serious newspaper is delusional.

I'm not trying to prove anything. I'm giving you my opinion and what I based it on. FFS I'm not taking sides here, just giving my view.

    Completely non sequitur? Hardly.

It took the iPhone 74 days to sell 1 million. It took the Apple Watch one weekend.

The truth is the data was always questionable, and it's also US focused. If Slice said the Apple Watch had sold 20 million I'd be suspicious. That said, I think the real test is this fall. Watches are gift items. Will men buy them for their wives/girlfriends for Christmas? We'll see. I'm sure Tim Cook wanted the Apple Watch ready last fall. Since it wasn't he made do with what he had, but April isn't the best time to be releasing an impulse buy, particularly when supply couldn't keep up with whatever the demand was then.

Except that Apple said back in October 2014 that it wouldn't release sales figures and would be reporting results in "Other." I think Apple execs had reasonable expectations about Apple Watch results. It's a nascent category, unlike music players and cell phones when Apple released the iPod and iPhone. And even those products had slow starts. This time around Apple is trying to create a category where others have failed to do so. It won't happen overnight. But that doesn't mean it won't ever happen.

Apple touts good sales numbers all the time. Like I said two weeks after the iPhone 6 was released we new the pre-order and first week numbers. Apple isn't releasing numbers for a reason.  Yeah it's been 74 days and the watch was announced last September. It's hard to argue this launch was flawed and that's being kind.

    https://www.apple.com/pr/library/2014/09/22First-Weekend-iPhone-Sales-Top-10-Million-Set-New-Record.html

After 3 days Apple put out a press release. Why no press release on a product they pushed like crazy before the release? Jony Ive going around taking pictures with fashion designers, trying to market this as fashion instead of wearable technology.

This is a big product release why no press release? Even more so why no release of numbers when articles start popping up giving Apple some bad press when it comes to the watch?

Like I said the numbers have to be bad enough, clearly the bad press isn't as bad as the numbers.

Logic dictates why wouldn't any company release good numbers?

Also a quick release of good numbers would only encourage third party developers to start investing and building more apps creating a better ecosystem.

We know in a quarter Apple sold 74.5 Million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.  Well a quarter isn't much longer than 74 days.
