Somehow they will magically find a shit ton of "others" just to lower Apple's market share.

They really don't do that. But there are huge numbers of small computer companies out there.

How did Gartner's last quarter estimates match up to Apple's actual reported sales?

are you sure about that? it looks different enough to show Apple went down, not up. Whereas the numbers here show Apple going up, not down.

time will tell, and i doubt that Apple is going down anytime soon.

OMG, will M$ decide to give up supporting Windows on PC Laptops ?   :\

Then fire all the Windows software folks. It's a trend at MS these days.

What, you're surprised? They know most won't read past the headline- intellectual dishonesty at its worst. It's Macrumors, probably the biggest Apple hate site on the internet masquerading as a "rumors" site. Almost everything they post has a negative spin, or worse, the headlines are straight up lies, based on negative rumors of reports that have been shown as false. Juli Clover in particular is most guilty of this, using statements of facts in her headlines that are laughably false, then never correcting them. Don't know how the hell that's ok. It works though, attracts the trolls so that they can mock and gloat, and the $$$$ rolls in. They revel in it, and take pride in having zero integrity. You should know, you're a regular poster there, and of course see that 90% of the comments on any given story are hateful and negative.

Trolls like Benjamin Frost, for example. Nice to see he's found a comfortable home there:

Apple did themselves no favours launching the 12" MacBook.

That is a worrying sign for the direction of the Mac. When form takes precedence over function, as it does with the ridiculously compromised MacBook, you might as well stop making computers.

Apple are becoming a fashion-driven company, and are doing their best to destroy the hard-earned reputation for stellar hardware which Steve Jobs built up over many years. It's sad to see this once-great company turn into a political blancmange obsessed with race and sexuality at the expense of a laser-focus on their products.

I'll wait for the real numbers next week as IDC is usually Way off the mark when it comes to Apple.

These companies use different methods to calculate numbers. But I haven't seen this much of a difference between them.

These estimates are nearly always underestimates. Taking the report here the 16% yoy is excellent. If that keeps up apple is at a tipping point with the Mac and it may become a serious player in the industry. Again.

If the new MacBook gets a price reduction with the same form factor ( or they sell last years model a la the iPhone) it could be mega.

By here melgross meant that the Gartner's numbers are on this AI article, by the end of it.

You know, it is somehow refreshing to know that more people do in fact recognize quality and purchase more and more Macs as the market moves in the opposite direction. The only reason that I do not have the latest models is that my budget will not allow it. But buying 2-3 year old used Macs is just so far ahead of the Windows world that it is not even funny.

I'd like to think the posters that called him out here... cramped his style.  :smokey:

But he still upvotes dozens of other posters that share even an inkling of his vibe on a daily basis.  That was one thing I hated about his posting habits, you could block his posts, but not his upvote comments.

Before someone points out the irony: I know, I tend to upvote too; but not to that insanely obsessive degree.

Yeah, I checked out a couple threads there, and pretty much every SINGLE negative fucking comment is upvoted by BF. I'd feel pity for the obvious pathetic nature of his life, but he's shown himself to be such a vile and nasty individual that I can't even manage that.

If Tim Cook and co have been "doing their best" to destroy Apple's reputation in hardware for the past 4 years (you know, the same people that worked intimately with Steve Jobs), then I have to say, they've done a pretty shit job accomplishing that goal. They haven't even managed to produce ONE piece of shit hardware product- or even one that isn't regarded as best of class by consensus of reviews and consumers- I'd call that a massive fail. But hey, who am I to question the deluded fantasies and twisted reality of a life-less troll.

As soon as they release the 8K iMac in gold, sales will increase even further.

Interestingly formulated: "risk their jobs being different". However if those IT workers were secretly using Macs at home, they wouldn't feel so threatened by that "difference". The real threat to their jobs is that Macs generally require much less maintenance, and Mac users often manage their own machines.
