Taiwan newspaper reported that Invectec (iPod maker) is producing iPad for Apple. It include 10G hard drive and palm OS.

I remember this. I think it was only a month or two after the release of the new iBook. I didn't remember the exact size though, only that they were producing a larger iBook LCD screen. Everyone at the time thought they were mixing it up with a new iMac.
Wishes:
1. It captures full motion video MPEG-4.
(panasonic has this amazing 4-in-1 coming next month that stores 30 min of video on a 64MB SD card)
2. Has GPRS support and upgradable firmware.
( I want to upgrade to EDGE and 3G without having to buy a new one)
3. High resolution screen.
(OS 5 will allow for multiples of the standard Palm OS resolution, so it could be around 720x540 or so..drool)

Anwyhoo, Applew iwll not releae an iPod with only double the space of the earlier version. Maybe in a couple years when a 50 GB tiny drive is avaiblale. 10,000 songs in your pocket. E ven better, 1,000 CD-qwualitty songs in your pocket. Then the 500 GB or 1 TB iPod with hologram storage, which will stor DVD-audio files. Yay!

Why not a 10GB iPod? There are plenty of people who have already maxed theirs out with mp3 files alone. Remember that it can also play AIFF and WAV files plus it can be used as a hard drive. I will wait for the 10GB version because I have a handful of albums that I want uncompressed plus files to be stored. It totals around 8 GB currently.
<strong>I'd buy a 10GB iPod. I don't think Apple will call the PDA (if ever they make one) an iPad, though, because then everyone would just be clamoring for the iPed (obviously, the long-rumored Apple Shoe Phone) and it's companions the iPud and iPid.
Why not Newton? They still own the rights to the name.

the iPod is already based on an arm processor, so I don't think that would be much of a problem. If they really were developing a device based on palm 5 would they be at a test run stage? I was under the impression that the beta release for developers was not coming until may
Now, that was last year. Palm was in disarray, it was a vertical production company with a crowded and confusing product selection. The announcement of PalmSource, the OS-only division of the Palm OS combined with the market positioning of Palm might provide interesting synergies.
The unrelenting onslaught of M$ in this arena might be unstoppable at this point, but nobody can predict the final outcome of this market.
Nokia is trying to get ahead of M$ in the mobile communications industry, but the result of that fortification will be another three to five years away.
Right now, an Apple-branded PDA is more likely than it ever has been.

This places real Palm OS 5 cognizant hardware toward late summer or even farther. Like 2003. Understandably, it means a shift in coding. But Palm apps are small, right? Developers may be able to adjust their products within the next six to nine months to coincide with new hardware.
So, iPad in the first half of the year?
Maybe NOT.
