On the subject o' Frenchmen and onions... I was greatly disappopinted tae recently discover that the French onion sellers who at one time regularly appeared roond the toons and villages on their bicycles (wi' their wares draped aboot the necks o' their gallic stripey shirts) were Scottish imposters frae jist doon the road (Glescae maist likely), and they hadnae pedalled a' the way frae Bouloigne to Mallaig on their 3 speed Claude Butlers at a'.
