I think what should be top of Apple's priority list (outside of faster native 3rd party apps) is an always on display for the time. I've seen several comments in my Twitter feed that ?Watch sucks as a watch. John Gruber's review mentioned it too...that when he's typing away on his computer he'd like to be able to just glance at his wrist and see the time without having to raise it. If Apple can come up with a low power way to always display the time like some Android Wear devices do I think that will increase sales.
"Raise" is misleading: All the Apple Watch requires to trigger the watch display is a mere wrist rotation, i.e. exactly the same motion you'd make to glance at a conventional watch.
Android Wear has an ambient "always on" mode. I know the LG Urbane has an always on display. Leo Laporte wears one and if you watch any of his Twit shows you can clearly see the display is always on.
Very true. Most things I do on it needs a tap or two and the crown so hands is needed. I don't use it for personal fitness at all! It's the other stuff I use it for
With that said my battery life was at 50 percent after 15 hours of use
Top 5 apps I use
LA fitness card reader
Dark sky
Siri
IMessage
Calendar
The UI is very well thought out. Anyone else with a top 5 list?
That's interesting, none of those are in my top 5.
The thing that has surprised me most is that I actually use it as a watch more than anything else. It's the first time I've worn a watch in 10 years, and I never really realized how convenient a quick glance at the time was. I also like the fashion component more than I thought. I love switching between my white band and my Milanese Loop. I also like switching the watch face often (I usually go between the large number face and the minimal face [without any complications]; both look slick and modern, and you can use the former to color match your clothes). It was very smart of Apple to make changing the watch face the easiest thing to do on the watch. As to Rogifan's point.. Initially I thought gruber's complaint about a lack of always on watch face was ridiculous (and for a 1st gen product, it's still a ridiculous complaint). However, as well as the automatic face works, the times that it doesn't are kind of frustrating (like when you're carrying something and can't do a normal arm lift). However, until an always on face doesn't drain the battery too much, it would be just a gimmick; I trust Apple to make the call.*
My favorite aspects of the watch are the watch, the fashion, and the notifications. As for apps, here's my top 5:
Apple Pay (my favorite app/function by far, use it often)
Music controls
Passbook (Starbucks, movie/concert passes)
Workout (track my yoga workouts, and occasional runs)
Heart rate monitor
I'm sure I would use messages a lot more if I had more friends with an Apple Watch. I would use Siri if Siri worked better. I would use maps if it loaded in a reasonable amount of time. I don't have much use for the fitness/activity component since I'm already pretty fit/active.
Functions I don't use often but love to use include the Apple TV remote, the remote camera shutter, and the timer.
Also, I shower with it regularly and have had no problems.
Overall, I'd say the Apple Watch is brilliant, and a pretty amazing first gen product. I could go on for a while about how much I like the UI and aesthetics as well (e.g. The little indicator icons at top center). Can't wait to see where Apple takes it.
*Edit/add: I have the 42mm watch. Without using the workout app I'm usually around 50% battery at the end of the day. With an hour workout I'll be at 20-30%. The battery life is excellent.
it's a top tier product for being a first gen. BTW what model did you get? Why?
+1 on the mod watch face. I'm really impressed with the simplicity of the device yet being very comprehensive in its functionality.
Agree, I use the modular as well. To me is the best watch face, I don't count my watch face as an app. But is excellent.
Edit: I got the space gray sport watch 42 mm. As a safe bet for the first gen ?Watch plus I got one for the wife. Don't regret it. This thing can take abuse very well.

?Pay in the ?Watch is just perfect. And I also like the music control.
Yes for a first generation product the ?Watch is great, is not perfect but is just outstandingly good. I can't wait for watch OS 2.0 which looks like is going to make the ?Watch even better.
For those satisfaction surveys I am extreme satisfy with my ?Watch
I wish Apple would include a notification to let me know that i am going out of range of my iPhone. With the ?Watch I sometimes forget my iPhone. I left my iPhone at Starbucks this past weekend. (I got it back)
I am thinking of getting an Apple Watch but when I see them in person they seem quite bulky and I am worried about the 'toughness' of them- do Apple Watch users find them bulky and can they take a beating (read: dropping/scratching/bumping) well?

Well I haven't slammed mine into a wall yet (having been watch-free for awhile - 30 years? - I'm still aware of it as I move). But it's definitely not bulky.

I don't find it bulky at all. I got the 42 mm sport. I use it all day every day. I've hit it a few times, spray painted it(by accident) , drop it. I run with it, lift waits with it, expose it to sun a lot. I find the ?Watch extremely durable. I do recommend putting on a screen protector. I use zagg's. Like anything there is only so much punishment it (?Watch) can take. If you go for the ss ?Watch, it should be more durable and is a lot nicer looking
