The past week

OK, my past week has been a very intresting one, so I decided to chronicle it for you all...:

Saturday, July 14th:

My day off. I slept in and spend the majority of my day reading AI and talking with frends online about the coming week, they knew I was coming into the city so I was planning on meeting up with them... I was also invited to my friend's birthday party on friday and a graduation party on the same day... I go to sleep pretty early as i have work the next day...

Sunday:

I usually dont work on sunday, but since I am taking off wednesday and thursday, I am working sunday to make up for one of my missed days... work was work... the usual and i confirm I can sleep at my friend's house on 18th street on wednesday so i can catch the SoHo opening... after work I read AI and talk online for a few hours and go to sleep

Monday:

Work again--same deal really...

Tuesday: last day of work before my 2 days off... after work I pack my bag ...

Wednesday: I wake up late.. I was planning on talking the 6:30 train into the city, but me and my bro end up catching the 7:26 one--almost. See, i forgot my tickets to MWNY at home, so I had to go back and finnnaly caught the 7:56 train, getting me into Penn around 8:30 and to the javits center around 8:45.... now the search begins to find a place to watch the keynote..... see, they wouldnt let us into the overflow room... the only way for me (and about 200 other people) to watch the keynote was to stand directly in front of the southern entrance to the exhibits (right by apple's booth) and watch the stream on Filemaker's huge screen.... the stream was not very reliable... it wasnt loud enough and the security guards were being assholes... it was realy kind of amusing, they kept on calling on their radios to their suporvisor saying that they couldnt keep the enrance way clear... one of them (the fatter one, if you were there) was giving everyone dirty looks, kind of amusing... she must have thought we were freaks!

anyways, so I miss most of the keynote due to the stream crapping out every 30 min or so... but we get most of the main details... it was kind of funny actually, they dropped the curtains on the 3 covered signs and apple booth too early, we found out about the 17" iMacs during the whole schpele about iSync and the new iPods... they were supposed to let us into the exhibits at 10:30, but the keynote was not over yet... so they waited an extra 2 min until "show management's watches said 10:30" I got to watch the rest of the keynote in the apple booth while playing with the new 17" iMac and the cell phone... the phone and iMac were great... too bad I just got a new phone and am on the verison network... maybe the v60c will get bluetooth support? yeah, right...

so after the keynote is over me and my brother stock up on the jag posters and run into our elementary school computer teacher... that was weird...

I left the Expo around 3ish and dropped my brother off at Penn and went down to my friend's apartment... he had tickets for that nights yankee game, but he didnt want to go--what an idiot (anyone else think SJ's numerous mentions of the Yankees wierd? ) anyway, he talks me into going up to yankee stadium with him and scalp the tickets... I was kinda angry w/him b/c i wanted to see the game... but he is a cheap bastard and wanted $ (to support his quasi-drug problem, but I'll leave that out of this) so, we get to yankee stadium and as soon as we get off the 4 he gets this hustler to buy the tickets off him... he gets RAPED... the tickets were $62 each (6th row, tiger side of the field just behind the net) and he sold it for $70 for 2 of them... of course he makes it painfully obvious that he is selling the ticket too, so as soon as he gets the money a yankee stadium "official" comes over and lectures him about how he shouldnt be selling tickets like that... the funniest part was, all of the other scalpers there kept telling the official to not be so loud about it--so they could sell their tickets... its a weird kind of agreement the guy must have w/the scalpers... im sure he gets a cut of the $...

ok, so after this kid get his $ we go back to the city and since his parents think he is at the game--we are stuck walking around manhatten... now I am dead tired at this point because i ahve been working all week and have been up since 7....we dick around in the virgin megastore and circut city for like 4 hours trying to find out what is going on in the game so when we get back to the apartment we would know what happened if his parents asked... did i mention this kid is an idiot?

anyways, to make a long story short, we get back to his house and his little brother and him keep me up until like 2 in the morning watching DVDs... I explained to the kid's parents that I needed to wake up early to get to the grand opening for a free t-shirt so they were nivce enough to wake me up the next morning early.

Thursday:

I wake up and take a quick shower and wake up robert (the little brother) to come with me (he wanted a free t-shirt too...) we get in a cab and get off at prince and broadway... now, I havent been able to double check the store's location and all i know is that it is on prince street or spring street, im not sure... after walking around for like 10 minutes me and robert finnaly find the store and get in line around 7:15 ish... I wonder how early the people at the front of the line got there...

there was 2 kids behind us from macaddict filming, that was kinda cool... so the doors open and we walk into the store... this is the first time ive been to an apple store... it was intresting... does anyone else find the whole love shack, clapping, and high-fives deal a little dumb? anyways, the store is AMAZING the staircase is beautiful... i was hoping to be the first purchase, but i was too far back in line to do that (i was something like the 35th person in line or so)... oh well, we play around in the store (robert has not been on a mac since like system 7 (when he was like 6) so I think that was a good experience for him... maybe he will get a mac... we leave after I get WCIII and I get 2 t-shirts (one for my brother) and robert gets 2 also, he says its for his brother, but he tries to sell it to me later on... great family, huh? no, im just kiddding, they are really nice, the mother especially, its just the kids that are out of hand (damn rich spoiled kids--they have no clue how lucky they are) she is gettting me an internship at Phillip morris next summer--should be intresting... too bad I hate MO... but i wont decline the offer--it wouldnt be nice...

anyways, I leave their house to go to the expo and get there around 11ish... I go to the omni web booth and buy omni graffle, omni web, and omni outliner....--I dont even use OS X yet either, but i wanted to support them... i also go to see eye TV in action... HOLYCRAP... if you are using X and have $200 to spare GET THIS HARDWARE!!!! if you dont know what it is, it was a best of show winner, so go check it out... it is TiVo on your mac w/o the monthly fee or HD limitations ... run out of space? just get another FW HD... GREAT device, i will be getting on as soon as I get my new computer.... also picked upa guitar program for my friend, an iPod connection kit (car adapters, bunch of differnt cables, etc.) from Xtreme mac... and 2 T-shirts...by this time I am dead tired and my father calls me up and tells me he has 4 tickets to the yankee game on saturday... so I call up the kid i stayed with and offered him a spot... offered a Redsox fan I know a ticket and this other kid... Robert's brother cant go b/c he is going out to his "new jersey house" for the weekend... so i gave his ticket to this other kid I know... it turns out that this kid-jason- had tickets to friday's game also.... so he invited me to that, and it conflicts with the 2 parties i was aready invited to... so i ahve to cancel both of those but i told one of them i would show up after the game on friday...

now at this point, im working on maybe 10 hrs sleep in 2 days-I go home and finnaly get to watch the keynote in its entierty... its a pretty good keynote I would say... long also... but i finnaly under stand a little better what .mac is...

Friday:

I have work and and right after work i ahve to pick up Jason and this kid Andrew to go to the game... of course, it starts to rain--hard... now, the yankees are playing the Boston Red-sox.... so there is no way in hell they are postponing the game... me and my 2 firends sit through 2 hrs of the rain and get soaked... the friend who is haing a graduation party calls me up every like 30 min wondering if i was coming... the funny thing is, if the situation was revered he would probably do the same thing...

anyway, the game starts and the yankees lose... in my mind 3 of the 4 runs were bullshit... that little "sac fly" that nick did to score the 1st run... bullshit the kit over bernie's head... yeah it was a tough play, but he shoulda made it... he is getting a little old

so we leave the stadium at around 12:30 ish (i think, i cant really remember... heh) and i try calling all the people that i know are at this kid Tom's graduation party... NOONE picks up... so instead of going there, i take everyone back to my house... before i go to sleep this one girl called me upb/c i called her looking for tom... she just left the party.... anyways, she loses her phone that morning and the car service that picks her up called me back (because i was the last # she called) during the yankee game on saturday.... but I will get to that...

anyway, I go to sleep around 3ish and plan to wake up around 6 to get to RF in time for the opening... I thought the store opened at 8 like SoHo...

Saturday: I wake up around 7ish and jump quickly in the shower... i wake my 2 friends up and my little brother and we all go to the RF store... now both of my friends ahve never used a mac before either.... not that they cared for the mac at all, i thought that it was kinda cool that i brought 3 PC users to the grand openings of apple stores... anyways... we get to RF at about 9 ish and find the store like 5 min later... i was lucky i found the store, because once again i had NO CLUE where the store was... anyways.... we are about 85 or so in line and get in on the 3rd or 4th wave.... it was really crowded in the store... much moreso then the SoHo store... I buy CivIII and leave to pick up my other friend that is coming to the yankee game with us... they wouldnt let us have more then one T-shirt leaving the store this timee :/ oh well, my friend stole one anyway... heh, of course he kept it also...

anyways, I pick up my friend matt and take him to my house and meet up with my father... he has 7 tickets, one for him, my brother and me my friend jason, my friend matt and this red sox fan named nicola (actually i gave him his ticket at the game on friday, he had seats to that game also) my friend andrew was going with his family to the game and had his own ticket... my father drove us to the game this time, so i got to FINNALY rest in the car... as I wake up we get to the stadium just in time for the 1st pitch... as soon as i step foot into the stadium i get yelled at @ least 4 different times for wearing a "boston sucks" t-shirt... I dont get what the big deal was, but they made me turn it inside out... I bought it before the game on friday and put it on after the rain stopped, it was my only dry shirt...

anyways, innings 1-4 i am fully awake and paying attention... 4-7 I fall asleep... i wake up for the 7th inning stretch and fall asleep the 2nd half of the inning... i wake up as soon as MO comes in to close the red sox... i didnt even realize people were on base, until they scored... hehe oh well... i was pretty much awake for the rest of the 11 inning nailbiter... actually I was trying to get a god damn hotdog from the 8th to the 10th inning... EVERY STAND WAS F*CKING CLOSED!!!! for the prices we pay for the food we should be able to get it whenever we F*CKING WANT!!!! ARG... eventually after pleading with one of the ushers they let me go outside to get a hot dog and come back in, just in time for the 11th inning... after my father drives home I drive my friend Matt back to his house on LI and go to sleep... I wake up for work the next morning

Sunday: and work all day... its really too bad I didnt see the yankee game today... another come-from-behind-victory for the yanks... heh

its been a hectic week, but its been worth it... its too bad that my next day off from work is saturday, but i have to save up for the new 17" iMac, 20 GB iPod and new powerbook (as soon as they come out) I am going to be buying... see i made a deal with my brother, he is going to buy my old 5 gig iPodand he is going to also buy the 17" imac and let me use it up at school until the powerbooks get updated--under the condidtion that i keep his computer in working order... knowing him, that could cause problems.... anyways... to make a long story short it has been a great week of yankees, Apple, and lack of sleep... its a good thing there is a few hot girls at work or I would go crazy!!!

Where exactly is the RF store? Is it where FAO Schwartz used to be? because that's what I've been thinking all along.
