Apple's 'Beats 1: Replay' brings full show replays to Connect

A recently activated Apple Music Connect feature called Beats 1: Replay allows fans to replay taped Internet broadcasts of their favorite shows, including those hosted by DJs Zane Lowe, Julie Adenuga and Ebro Darden.

Spotted by MacStories on Tuesday, the new feature grants Apple Music users access to on-demand replays of live shows put on by Apple's star DJs, the first being those from Lowe, Adenuga and Darden. Currently, replays are live for Tuesday's shows.

Currently, Beats 1: Replay is limited to Connect, Apple Music's answer to social networking. Available shows are searchable in Apple Music under "Beats 1: Replay," but the best way to get updates on newly available content is to follow a DJ on Connect.

As noted in the report, replay recordings lack song information and other metadata that normally piggybacks on a live broadcast's stream. This is likely a licensing issue relating to streaming versus on-demand music, which carry different terms and fees. As it stands, Beats 1: Replay segments are limited to continuous, non-stop playback, though the format does allow for scrubbing. Also unavailable is per-song favoriting.

It is unknown at this point if Apple also plans to make special segments from celebrity DJs like Dr. Dre, Elton John, Pharrell Williams and Drake available for streaming under the Beats: 1 Replay banner.

Really. You used the term "taped" as opposed to "recorded" or "archived"?

    As has now been noted.

Eh. I wish I had a nickel for every time I've said I "filmed" a video on my iPhone.

Funny. I've noticed that we still "tape" TV shows on our DVR too. Language is sometimes slow to adapt.
