cecilb: where did you get that Metropolis shot? Is there a website somewhere detailing its making? (I've done some searching but can't find much)

    An incredible, prolific movie...

Hmmm...nice Mulatta. Mine's similar, albeit more shallow:

I'm using the photos Apple uses on their website as desktop picts, rotating them when I log in.(All I need is one more!)

It took a few hours, but I found most at Spymac. I have them in my Public folder of my iDisk, too. The name is ryantann

The the photo that looks like Dallas is only at 800x600, but it shows up fine with a screen set a 1024x768.

Very true...I find that the good looks of Mac OS X often make me somewhat less creative. Cool desktops don't help either.

I find that when in OS 9, I am able to create cool looking stuff and good, humourous writing, but in OS X, why bother. Already faced with perfection...

Another one courtesy of Mando. My desktop has personality now, too with the help of The Simpsons.

(P.S. You should change the size of the preview to a smaller one).

Leonis, could you post that wallpaper somewhere? I would really like a copy of it.

    Thanks in advance.

That's Hong Kong. Nice photo, I think I'll grab it from your iDisk tomorrow. That photo was on the ad for the Cinema Display, so I don't know why it would be so small...

I marked the photo at 800x600, and it's not the Hong Kong photo.

BTW, I found three more of these photos.

About the whole 800x600 thing, Apple puts the desktop pictures on after the picture is taken in photoshop.

Whoa! I used to work in the shiny tower on the right of that picture. The two buidings are part of the Lippo Centre in Admiralty, Hong Kong. Shame that they're complete dumps on the inside though.

    Cool pic.

I have a web site with a bunch of desktops. But I have also recently put on my public folder of the iDisk an archive of all the risque desktops I have created. Those with OS X are welcome to grab a few if you like them.
