best cell phone service?

dunno if this is the right place for this...

I've been using Sprint PCS for a while now, but I don't like it very much. Plus my phone just stopped working so I have an excuse to go to another service. I spend time up and down the eastern US, in Virginia, N. Carolina, and Florida specifically. I like the idea of purchasing a set amount of minutes per month, but I don't use it that much so if a service has a good per-minute charge i'd be interested in that too. Thanks.

Been using Verizon for about a month and have been happy with it so far. My gf just ditched AT&T for Verizon as well--said AT&T service was horrible.

gah, i can't stand verizon. maybe elsewhere in the country, but their coverage in the southeast is shite.

i just switched to T-Mobile because they're the only carrier in my market that offers the T68i phone. I like it a lot so far.

I've got VoiceStream and it's not the greatest. Verizon is very good in my area.

Verizon is probably the best to get, expecially on the east cost they are big over there. I have had Verizon for 4 years with no problems.

Verizon is the best. They use IS95 CDMA as the signal processing protocol, so in places where citizens have gathered to halt cell phone poll construction, Verizon does the best. The CDMA system is much better at dealing with interference and large user bases than any other current technology.

For example, in dense urban areas where there are a lot of users, and in residential zones where they're aren't a lot of poles, Verizon is the only service that isn't crap.

I've got cingular. In NC, they have GSM service. But in other parts of the country they use some other service (TDMA, I think). I've had GREAT luck so far with their service. Not one dropped call and reception has been good to great. I'm not sure what other parts of the southeast are like, but everywhere I've got between here and Chicago I've had good reception with the exception of W.Va. I'd check google groups and see what people in the news groups are saying about the service in the parts of the country that you want. That's what I did and both me and my gf are really happy (so far). Good luck.

And cheap, too! What is it? Like 9 cents/min? Oh wait... that's 9 cents/share.

I use SprintPCS here in Texas and it is great. It even great in Oregon, Tennessee, wherever I go! I have one of the first phones with ELED's. Don't know why more phones don't use that! It's a motorola timeport with an awesome screen!
