By your (and I agree) definition, the path to Apple's dominance was buying Soundjam in 1999.  Who da thunk it?

it wasn't act of buying Soundjam. that was their second choice after the first waited too long. they knew they wanted music management as the hub... it was the clarity of their executive mind.

    That is strange.

Did you ask them why/what happened?

I've been banned a few times, they never explain it.

per the forums rules (you can find them in the forums) swearing is allowed. attacking isn't. bagging on Apple and its users is considered trolling.

It's pretty much always for ad-homs. Infractions should be listed in your profile page. Yours are mostly variations of calling people clowns, fools, idiots etc. You don't need to have these explained every time you do it, you know those comments are against the forum rules and they are removed from the forum. If you never insult another member of the forum, you will most likely never get an infraction, it's that simple. They are completely unnecessary additions to comments, you can make exactly the same point without adding the insults. If you use insults a lot then the forum starts issuing temporary bans each time you do it. A few bans usually gets people to stop doing it.

the problem is the offending posts are removed so we cannot review them to see what is over the line. and trust me, it isn't always obvious.

ideally the AI system should send you a copy of the message and the reason via email. easy to do...MR does this. pretty automated.

No way.  Like Cook said the sales in China has not been hurt one bit.

I can't emphasize it enough: The stock market in China is not like the stock market in the USA.  The majority of the middle/upper middle class don't even own China stocks.  It is viewed as a rich man's casino.  Just remember that the China stock market is 1/3 the size of the Japanese stock market.  That alone should tell you how small it is and has almost no bearing on the economy.  The only people 'losing' money in the China market are degenerate gamblers and very wealthy Chinese.  And even these may have not lost money at all.  The China stock market is still up 43% the last 12 months.
    1. According to CNN, China stock market as a whole is $10 trillion before the crash (so probably $6 T now); Japan is only $5T. 2. There is more than 100 million stock accounts. 3. China economy is slow down, why do you think they devalue Reminbi? It would trickle to iPhone sales.

You can bet that AAPL itself has a sophisticated formula for buying it's own stock. Betcha it kicked in in spades this morning.
I thought Apple had given the SEC a schedule for when they were buying back. I could absolutely be mistaken

EDIT: Just went searching for what I thought I had remembered reading and found squat. I'm probably mistaken.

There was a time when Apple was all about neat technology... Now it's all about share prices. What a way of sucking the creative air out of anything.

    When was this?

Would the $95 have gone through? No way to tell now, but my brokerage has been OK with my trades before.

Unless you've actually had an outstanding order that got filled during one of these "flash" moves, there's no way to know that. In cases like these, there are a limited number of shares that are going to trade in the spike, and I'm pretty sure that at most brokerages some accounts have priority over others. I'm not sure if this kind of information is even available to the general public (and I probably should have done some research before getting involved in this conversation), but it's a topic that's interesting to me.

I think Mel is "buy and hold" guy from way back also. He just happened to "buy" more and good on him for doing so.

Sure. He's one of the few people here that have more than I do, that's awesome. In any case, he lives in or near the financial capital of the world, and seems to have lots of connections with direct (inside) knowledge about a lot of different things. Figured it was work asking.

MR allows a massive amount of personal attacks/button pushing from some people, but not from others.  Not sure why.

Though, it is slightly better now than a year ago were constant massive trolling was getting out of hand ("Bending" and watch "Thread").

Also, anyone using "fanboy", Isheep (or all such variants) non ironically or talking about Jobs's thinking this/saying this as a preambule to their argument should be banned for a few days instantly on an Apple site (On MR, which justifies their not policing trollers because it's about rumors and not an Apple site, you can push buttons all day long and moderation is pretty lax on this).
