I seem to remember reading last year than the A8 already has H265 HW compression/decompression that was primerily used for Facetime.

I'm super excited for this. Literally, people need to know how important this is. Thankfully Apple has realized how important it is to upgrade the MP and add 4K.

I kinda wish they would have NXT wrestler Tyler Breeze demonstrate the new camera features

    Indeed it does.

Wiping the names would just free them up in the system to be used again. That’d create confusion. Not that there aren’t a large number of unused insults left.

That doesn't have to be so. They could simply keep that entire list, for internal purposes like you describe, but only display active and current usernames for posters who wish to reference.

Ironic, a site reporting on a company with an eye for detail.

That's true, but only works in SW, not HW.

Link works fine on the main page. I have nothing to do with it not working on the forums.

I missed that, as I never go to the main site. For me, the info is in the forum.

Ah, makes sense. That’s a Huddler issue, though.

It worries me that this is the first new iPhone in years that I'm thinking isn't worth upgrading for.

Hopefully the 2nd year contract people will keep the upgrades flowing.

I'll be upgrading from my 5 if that makes you feel any better.  :smokey:

I still find it funny that people in an audience at say a concert...still use flash when trying to take photos of a stage that is dozens of metres away. All they're doing is lighting up the back of the heads of the people in front of them! Lol

There is HW doing it in the SOC. You can google it, Anandtech, chipwork, or someone like that confirmed it.

So, not sure what you're saying.

Apple has not made the API for that available to anyone but themselves, but its there in the SOC right now.

I think Apple has been justifiably wary about "4K" video. Although HDR and wide gamut should be the kind of technologies that Apple has advanced, there are complications. The standards haven't quite settled down yet, though the launch of Blu Ray Ultra HD should help with consistency and critical mass for file packaging and AV codecs. A potentially bigger issue is the fog of uncertainty about several patent pools asserting rights on the key HEVC codec that delivers these new technologies. I would have thought this would be sorted out by now.....

HDR video would definitely be nice.

Record 4k video that takes up extra storage, and nobody who views your clip will be able to tell the difference :) Everyone wins!

4k has its limits in home environments, where average screen sizes and average viewing distances can render the added resolution moot. But sitting in front of a 4k monitor (or tablet), the added resolution would be very perceptible.

I happen to have a large 4K projection system, and sit at a distance where I would discern about 70% of the denser 4k pixel structure. I'll take it!
