Apple TV's 'Apple Events' channel updated ahead of iPhone announcement

Apple has updated its "Apple Events" Apple TV channel in preparation of Wednesday's expected iPhone unveiling, adding details about the venue and a timer counting down to a keynote livestream that starts at 10 a.m. Pacific.

The update is identical to last year's Apple Events channel revamp for what turned out to be the introduction of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. For 2015, Apple is teasing its Siri virtual assistant as the show's focus, writing "Hey Siri, give us a hint" on press invitations that went out at the end of August.

Aside from the countdown timer and brief event overview, the channel's icon now features the Siri-esque Apple logo graphic that first appeared on invites and later on flags and banners adorning Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco. The large 7,000-seat venue has been retrofitted with various decorations ahead of Wednesday's event, including a large Apple logo mounted on the building's ornate windows.

While OS X, iOS and Apple TV device owners have for years had access to Apple's events livestream, this year's presentation marks the return of compatibility for Windows 10 users tuning in through the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Apple is expected to announce next-generation iPhone handsets with Force Touch capabilities as well as new Apple TV hardware at today's event. Siri, the star of Apple's presentation, should play prominently with enhanced capabilities in iOS 9 and integration with a more robust Apple TV operating system. AppleInsider sources also say Apple's new smartphones will feature always-on "Hey Siri" voice activation.

AppleInsider will be reporting live from the event when things kick off at 10 a.m. Pacific., 1 p.m. Eastern.

“The channel better function perfectly during the event or the new Apple TV is doomed.”

Yeah, they seem to forget that Apple had a few streams after the fiasco which went off seamlessly.

The shit's gonna hit the fan tomorrow though. Every troll is going to crawl out of the woodwork and claim how underwhelming it was.

“Because the Apple TV 4 doesn’t have a terabyte of onboard storage, a la carte television programming, and a full game library with a physical controller, Apple is…”

I still hope for a la carte, though. Oh, and 1:1 live channels (where applicable) with the normal commercials replaced with interactive Video iAds.

I am sick and tired of all this Apple Watch and iPhone hype. I have an iPhone 6 and it has a problem with the screen sensitivity. Now there are introducing force touch in the new iPhone 6S. I hope this fixes the sensitivity problem. They should be talking about their computer line.  The Mac Pro has not been updated in 1 1/2 years. Are the computers going to embrace USB-C and TB3 or is Apple just throwing stuff out to see what catches on. I do not see what Apple's vision is. I am too frustrated to write anything else because my opinion does not mean a thing to Apple. I just know I will not be buying anymore Apple products anytime soon. The computers will be taking a backseat to the mobile devices. That really sucks.

I'm just glad that I don't have to watch the keynote at 7 am, that's way too early and who wants to be drowsy or half asleep when watching an Apple keynote? I'm guessing that whoever took the screenshot for the article is located in Hawaii or something.

Well, any time is pretty much fine for me these days.  I only get sleep like once in every two-and-a-half days anymore.

I did set my iPhone alarm for 1pm EST just in case though.

Edit: sigh, I just wish they have put the same amount of effort into what they are going to present.

You do know that you can take your iPhone 6 to any Apple store and get it replaced if there is such thing as a sensitivity problem with your unit.
As for your Mac Pro rant, if you bought one 1.5 years ago I don't see why you would want to replace it so soon. Because of USB-C and TB3? You do know that even if you do get these in a brand new computer, it may take a while for decent components to show up in the market.
Computers haven't necessarily taken a back seat, as you say, since El Capitan is just around the corner. The MacBook Pro line and iMac line are updated yearly. So I really don't understand all this bottled up anger.

Yeah the new ones are funny.

And how do u know they're not gonna put any more effort into the presentation?
I see this as a hint of what's to come.

I have dealt with Apple to fix the sensitivity issue and all they do is reset the phone therefore losing all my settings etc. They did not do anything to remedy the problem. Apple claims that the iPhone was operating properly.

This is why German -- bless them -- is not classified as a 'romance' language.
