This was easily the most impressive of the announcements today! That keyboard cover connection tech was very interesting too, as was the Apple Pencil...despite the silly name.

And the Surface Pro wasn't?  The Keyboard cover that MS showed us nearly 3 years ago including a pressure sensitive stylus that is only $39

This is easily the worst show in recent memory and I'm so sad that the company that Steve built is now a blatant copy cat.

Not to mention they couldn't demo the iPad Pro with Apple built Apps but invited Microsoft to showcase Office on it.  Steve would never accept that.

I’m just confused why it wasn’t Lightning. Remember all the rumors about a landscape second charging port? Lightning carries power both ways; was this new one needed?

Um...well then you have it sticking out the bottom and it's liable to snap off. Plus it will look ridiculous! They should have added a silo within the body of the Pro to store and charge the pencil like other vendors do.

On Apple's website it says that a 15 second charge gives it 30 minutes of use, so likely for emergency situations. Though a full charge gives you 12 hours of use. So you probably wouldn't need to do it much. I think most people would be fine waiting 30 seconds for an hour of battery life and then repeat as needed until able to do a full charge.

Sweet.... definitely getting iPad Pro. I've always wanted one with a stylus. I have iPad Air 2 and I use stylus to write but the implementation is just terrible. I tried bluetooth and it was horrible - it lagged. It doesn't feel responsive. It doesn't align correctly.

iPad Pro was clearly designed to get around issues that come with iPad Air/Mini when it comes to writing or drawing with a stylus.

I think Apple is intentionally not trying to turn the iPad into a laptop and that's why the keyboard doesn't have a trackpad.

So Apple basically copied the Surface Pro 3 with a keyboard cover and stylus.

That's the price that must be paid if you're going to sell millions of these to large companies.

Because the magnetic connector slides in a tiny bit easier than a Lightning one, and for Jony Ive that is reason enough to make a whole new port?

Must admit that the iPad Pro and the Apple TV 4 seem great. The iPad Pro, in particular, is really special. I was watching them use the Apple Pencil and noticed that no one seemed to have rested their palm on the screen. I wonder if one will have to worry about this when writing? Palm rejection has always been an issue even with a higher end BT stylus. Does anyone know?

    Minus the viruses and malware.

Does the Pencil have an eraser function on the opposite end?

Can it be charged by devices other than iPad Pro?

Will it work with iPhone 6S Plus?

That would be Surface RT since it only runs applications from App Store.

i want a stylus. why are people so negative on this. what people don't want is a stylus driven interface. not the ability to use one as a creative tool.

battery drain on the ipad from the pencil charging is going to be inconsequential. doubt it will not pull more than 5% of the battery max for a full charge.

    So much for the Surface.

MS even showed up at the event to essentially prove it.

Not as impressed about this as I hoped due to the storage specs. If I'm to use this in my work environment I would like to see how much space it has left over after OSX, & office apps are installed.

I mean if it starts out at $799, not sure what the keyboard will cost without track pad, & Apple Pencil $99 for the 32GB model that is looking at over $1,000 & not much storage for files, pics, etc.

Maybe I'll wait to see what Microsoft has instore for the Surface Pro 4 before I invest all that money into something that that Tim Cook referred to Hybrid Tablets as "Compromised" & "Confusing" as well as comparing them to a "Toaster plus fridge" and saying "Would you actually buy a Car that Flies & Floats?" (His words not mine)

Steve would never accept what agian? Working with Bill Gates and/or Microsoft? Please...

Microsoft and Adobe (Google's not far behind) deciding that offering their software and services to the far more affluent and influential Apple user base really gets your goat doesn't it?

Watch then and boo as long and loud as you like.

Yet, Apple doesn't have the proper way to demo Pages or Numbers on the iPad Pro?  Because nobody uses it.

MS is being OS agnostic to make Office for iOS and Android.  They are software company 1st.

Does it matter what the answer is to any of your questions whether you buy it or not? No. You wont. Because you'd find something else like lack if a mouse, trackpad, SD card slot.... whatever, just so you can feel superior for using one of the 90% of computers that the iPad Pro kicks the sh*t out of?

Of course, Steve did accept his $150mil loan to Apple after all.  But the Steve Jobs we know since Apple 2.0 would not invite MS to put a demo out.

Good for MS. But ask them how many of the billions of Android devices the software plays well on, and then ask them how many are working and paid for on iOS.

You can ask Adobe the same questions when you're finished, but add hiw many users are using Photoshop on Surface. Don't be surprised if you receive no answers, because it's embarrassing and costing the both lots of Money for Nothin'... and the clicks aren't free either.
