Maybe disengage the wounded feelings module, and use more thinking? Stop blaming others for their own shortcomings. Personal strength is only personally developed, and can be accomplished in almost all kinds of adverstity.

And some people have tunnel vision and want to beat the world into seeing "the one true way" that they've spent time learning about.  They don't consider that the struggles others are having might actually be design flaws which can be fixed by refining things further or taking a different approach.  Opportunities to make things better rather than to deride others for not knowing how to do things.

I've worked with a lot of tunnel-visioned technology people who created things which were difficult or overly complicated to use.  They didn't last long in the industry.

Idiots... you might want to wait like 10 minutes before upgrading, until your local ISP recognizes the nearest file mirrors.

Lots of stupid on stupid people this morning.
tried both at the same time on Air and Mini 2. Air succeeded while Mini 2 Failed multiple times. So stop being a smart ass and listen a little.
Anyway, people should reboot the device before update.

The point is that, someone telling people how to use punch cards correctly seems pointless in this day and age where we have automated digital storage reading.  Just as someone telling people they need to learn to wait 10 minutes for their ISP to update will seem in the near future.

At some point, instead of berating others, someone asked: how can we do this better?  And they did.

These problems may not be mutually exclusive, but one or a few servers changes taking time to propagate across the whole Internet is a constant.

When I haven't gone to settings and checked for the update manually I noticed its about a day or two or three for the most part.

    Your mileage may vary.

Screw that! I can't wait that long!!

I figured you receive the notification after initial traffic dies down. Which made me realize, this is going to be the most downloaded update in iOS history. iPhone 6 was a blockbuster, 6s seems to be in the path to beat that and the update supports more devices(iPads etc.) and is backward compatible all the way to iPhone 4s!!!

    The traffic!!

I think it's called traffic control. Why BEG for a system overload as a few hundred million people all smash into the servers at the same time? Talk about your self inflicted Denial of Service attack....

    I figured this, smartly pants.

I was just wondering how long it'll take. I'm assuming longer than ever this time around since iOS 9 supports the most devices ever.

Found a bug in iOS9 having to do with updates. I show 12 apps need to be updated but when I go to the App Store, the apps to be updated only show the update icon for about 1 second (in both my iPad and iPhone), then all of the updatable items' update icons change to "open." You can't update the items except if you push "update all" within the one second the update icon is visible. Anyone else see this problem?

I just noticed this as well.

The "Update All" button is grayed out and can't be pressed and all the apps listed with updates for iOS9 or other fixes say "Open" instead of "Update".

I have tried force quitting the App Store and rebooting to no avail. Definitely some kind of bug. Let me know if you find a solution please.

At least my screen rotation bug that was extremely annoying seems to have been squashed. And over all things appear snappy and work well.

EDIT: I wonder if it's not a bug but maybe since Apples servers are getting hit so hard like every time there is a new release they have temporarily turned off app updates. That is pure speculation, I'll check back in a few hours, or maybe by tomorrow things will have settled down.

Hey @ttollerton quick update. I just tried updating the apps again and everything worked fine so give it a shot.

See my post just above this one.

I just checked just now and it worked fine so give it another shot.

I think its just overall congestion.

Yeah I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for this week, but last year had a pathetic adoption rate of iOS 8 features an API's. A year later there is still a dismal selection of 3rd party Apps that have adopted the best features of iOS 8.

iOS changes too damned quickly and dramatically for developers to keep up. When it's API stuff that doesn't break an app, it's just not in their money-interests to make changes. When it's a change that breaks the app, a lot of apps just seem to disappear from the store, instead of being maintained. iOS apps are like advertising campaigns anymore. Why else are there "millions" of apps? I bet the public number of apps on the App Store conveniently includes the ones abandoned by their developers, some of which are only available to download for people that bought them while they were new.

    Junk food.

Any recommendations for a good ad blocker for iOS9?

Crystal is easy and effective, but doesn't allow one to whitelist any friendly sites (such as Daringfireball, which uses ads from the deck). Blockr allows whitelisting in the categories of ads, trackers, and media.

Well, it has begun. Ad blockers Crystal and Peace are out for iOS 9 and Jason Snell is worried. Snell is a well known Mac tech writer who used to be with Macworld. He now has his own ad supported blog Six Colors. Jason writes that he has mixed feelings about ad blocking because he depends on ads to keep going. Ads are on his site are already being blocked apparently and Snell thinks the future of Internet blogging is being threatened.

Can AI survive all of you blocking their ads? Will you pay the $8.99 they are asking for the AI iOS app (I did)? What about when El Capitan is out with the same capabilities?

John Gruber has already figured this out a long time ago.

Blogs will simply shift from banners and pop ups and pop overs to a more native/embedded style.

They will shift to doing ad posts like how Gruber does: "Many thanks to Company XYZ for their support this week" and then write a blurb about it. Those kinds of ads will never be blocked as they appear as though they are content and are not served.

Smart people will figure out how to get ads to work on their sites. It's a small price to pay to stop redirects and other obtrusive ads.

Marco Arment just came out with one based on Ghostery -- called Peace.

interestingly, scrolling long content is fine on other sites, such as MR. but now AI is definitely stuttering on scrolls and resizes on both of my iPads (mini 2, Air 2).

on 6 plus its laggy as hell. if animations are turned off its fine but with it on the multitasker is a bitch to use with the lag. got rid of 9 and went back to 8.4.1

see you 9 when you reach 9.1.5 maybe!!
