Say what you will but for the kids a 50 dollar tablet is great. If they smash it, no rushing to AppleStore and coming out with a sizable bill. 'Fixing' cracked glass on an iPad costs more than that!

Very odd approach but to each his own. It just sounds strange.

I'm saying you need to get your kid's an iPadAir or iPadPro.  A refurbished iPadMini would do.  You can easily get those for $100-$150.  They cost 2x more but they will last 2x longer and are much better.

Fair enough. I dont actaully have kids, but Ive known work colleagues who have come into work pissed off that their kid has knocked thier tablet off the side table trying to grab it for a game and cost quite a bit of money in repairs. Frankly I'm old school and would love to imagine kids without dedicated screens and use actaul toys like lego and other toys, like  wooden trains etc, but i think im kidding myself.

I just thought this is a good thing for them to have to watch a movie or some simple game.

Or is it okay to give them crap products since they are just children?

IMO, these cheap POS tablets will be collecting dust in 2 months.  While an iPadMini will last 4 years. So in the long run you are actually saving money buying them iPads.

But then you may say the kid may break the iPad. Well then they are not ready to own a tablet in that case.

You know what's really crap? Dissing every product that doesn't have an Apple logo or telling someone that they have bought their child a "POS" tablet when it works perfectly fine in the capacity it was bought for. My son's Kindle Fire HDX is in a protective case, he likes it, I like it, and it was reasonably priced. It doesn't crash on him, it works every time he turns it on and he's happy to use it.

That's all that matters to me (and to him). What's really appalling is when people that have an axe to grind can't see past their own biases to see things through the eyes of others. I love my Apple products, but I don't talk s**t about every other competing product on the market because there are better things to exert my energy on.

And BTW, my son's HDX was bought in July 2014; it's still going strong.

Congrats.  Your HDX last 12 months.  Much longer than the average Fire tablet that usually is stuck in a drawer after 3 months and collects dust.

You do know that Amazon is collecting information on your kid's tablet? Scary thought.  They are selling tablets at a loss for a reason.  They want to collect data on what your kid watches and what games he plays.

No, I'm mocking them because they are putting so much effort into dodging answering a simple question.

Huh! Amazon's all about selling crap to you, thaT's their model, and that'S why they subsidize stuff, just like google.

If someone is fine with that, well good for them; I'm not.

Shame on them for not giving stuff away for free like Apple does.

He owns a lot of Apple shares.  You have to understand that every post starts with the presumption of how it can be framed in a way that might lead to financial benefit for Apple and hopefully the share price.

Are you saying that's he's to Apple what Donald Trump is to the Republican Party: he makes them look bad?

"When S. Koera sends its products, they're not sending their best. They're sending products that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems to us. They're bringing copycats. They're bringing crime. They're viruses. And some, I assume, are good products."

The $50 tablet has a 600p screen. LOL. Are you kidding me?

I guess people will buying Junk as long as its cheap (see fast food)

I bet over 75% of these $50 tablets will be stuffed away in a drawer in a month after purchase.

If I had a business where using tablets that only need to access some very specific dynamic pages of data, like for a warehouse, I won't be buying iPads.

I know I am not going to convince anyone that a $50 Kindle compares remotely even to an old iPad, but it might be sufficient for my toddler for those car rides where nothing else keeps her entertained. If it can tether to our iPhones and connect to Netflix, Amazon video, and if some of the educational apps we've used on our iPhones/iPad are available, it might be worth it. Since I am already an Amazon Prime customer (what family isn't?) and Amazon has a great return policy ("website description is not accurate" and "UPS Pickup"!), it is low risk to order one and test it out. It's better than risking my iPad Air and the screen is larger than our iPhones. But I have already tried and gifted my Fire TV, so I am not expecting much.

Then you are being penny wise and pound foolish.  The difference in cost between that Kindle and an iPadMini is $220.  If the Mini allows your workers to be even 5% more efficient you will be saving THOUSANDS of dollars a year.

And that $50 tablet has 600 lines of resolution.  What kind of documents can you view with such a pathetic screen?  Documents will be unreadable.  And what happens when Amazon never sends OS updates?  Are you willing to risk your entire operation to slow to a halt if your Fire tablets get infected?

The only use case for these POS tablets is for kids under the age of 7.  And even then I would only recommend them if you are extremely price sensitive.

You write so much stupid shit. Have you even see how a list of, say, 20 items on that tablet would look on that display. Hint: You can mock this up on computer… and you can read it.

Who formats documents with 600 lines of resolution today?

What da **** are you on about? You don't format a text file for a specific number of lines of resolution.

PS: One one episode of Criminal Minds several years ago they used the latest iPhones as burner phones. Three to four people were sitting in some small park area on the same circular bench talking to each other on these burner phones without looking at each other and then they all got up at the same time tossed these iPhones in different trash receptacles and walked off. Did you write that stupid scene?
