case for PowerBook G4

in General Discussion edited January 2014
i just got a powerbook g4 through work. i'm looking for a bag to carry everything around in now, and am wondering what people have and/or would recommend.

i'm looking for something that has a lot of space, i need this to be a mobile computing center. i've got to have the power supply, external drives, firewire converter kits, iPod and the like. anyone have something they'd recommend? i'm reading through reviews now and there are a lot of bags out there, but not a lot of reviews. i'm seeing two or three per bag, not enough to really go on.

any advice would be appreciated.

I've got one of their courier bags and it's great. (I think I've suggested this one to you before, but, you asked... )

hey torifile, which bag did you get? they had some nice looking ones.

the funny part is of the cases i've seen with hardend protection, most of them cost a fortune. however, similar sized/shaped handgun cases are considerably cheaper. (not to mention they are a bit tougher)

that'll be interesting. have to see if i can play around with some foam inserts to get the exact right molding for what i need.

the samsonite ones looked nice, but i don't think they're really designed to be carried all over the place. something like the sleeve within the main case would be nice though. my other problem is that this is being purchased through work, so i'm torn between getting something really nice and keeping it reasonable. it's my budget, but i'd rather not have to explain to anyone why i spent <a href="http://www.iop.com/~bynoe/G_Mythos1.htm"; target="_blank">$400</a> on a laptop case.

Just see if you Company will get you a PO to go to your local best buy. Best buy has a wide arrange of Laptop bags. That's where I got mine when I got my Old 1ghz laptop last year, it fits my ibook better than it did that thing. The Samsonite bag I have works great. here are some pictures of it...

It also has a good setup under the front flap that allows you to hold up to 4 pens, business card holder plus a ton of other stuff. Also on the backside it has a file cabnet type setup inside so you can organize your papers.

I bought a Powerbook sleeve (see Maccase link in above response) for my Kensington Saddlebag.

I've used the Saddlebag for over two years with my G3 Powerbook, but felt that I needed to protect the new TiBook with something more.

It's a good bag and costs only $50.

    alcimedes,

I'm not sure what kind of bag I got. It's a courier bag, though. Small size. And I got their XL sleeve, which is specifically made for the TiBook. You can use the sleeve on its own because it's got handles or you can just stick it in a different bag if you want because it's well padded. The bag itself was sorta pricy, but the sleeve was only $40. I'm really happy with the bag and I'm never worried that the TiBook will get wet or damaged while I'm using it. Too bad you didn't think about getting a case 3 weeks ago b/c they had a 15% off everything sale.
