Apple Watch now on sale at B&H Photo retail, online stores

As part of an aggressive and diverse rollout campaign, Apple on Tuesday extended sales of Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport to New York-based electronics superstore B&H Photo, which currently has models in stock ready to ship.

With Apple Watch sales now live, B&H has 20 configurations in stock, including 38- and 42-millimeter gold and rose gold Apple Watch Sport versions. Customers can visit the superstore in person or buy through the B&H Photo app, which was recently updated to accept Apple Pay.

Along with Apple Watch Sport, the store is selling multiple stainless steel Apple Watch SKUs, though it appears current stock is limited to Sport Band and Milanese Loop strap pairings. The Space Black stainless model, previously limited to an expensive link bracelet package, is also in stock with black Sport Bands, though the 38mm version is currently sold out. Like other third-party resellers, B&H is not stocking solid gold Apple Watch Edition models.

Today's availability comes after Apple expanded Watch sales to U.S. and Canadian Best Buy locations in August, as well as shops run by cellular carriers T-Mobile and Sprint. International availability has also been boosted, with retail chains in Australia, France, Germany, and the U.K. now carrying stock. Big box retailer and longtime Apple reseller Target recently announced it, too, would have Watch up for sale by Oct. 25.

Apple's efforts to push Watch out to third party retail channels are impressive considering its own brick-and-mortar stores only began selling the device in June. Previously, customers interested in making a purchase were limited to Apple's online storefront or a handful of small fashion boutiques shops in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Paris and Tokyo.

And Apple sponsoring the Met Gala event next year. I'm grabbing a big bag of popcorn for people's reactions on that one. :D

The museum also announced the 2016 Met Gala will take place on Monday, May 2 and will be hosted by cochairs Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive, Taylor Swift, and Anna Wintour. Nicolas Ghesquière, Karl Lagerfeld, and Miuccia Prada will serve as honorary chairs, and the gala and accompanying exhibition will be sponsored by Apple.

    That's a great idea.

Companies who want to sell their products tends to put them in front of as many consumers as they can.

A bit off topic, but this being about B&H Photo it came to mind: Do you think Apple is planning to have cameras in the Apple Watch? At least one for, say, FaceTime calls on the Watch?

They HAVE to get a camera in there — Dick Tracy has had one in his since Day One.

There will be a Face Time/selfie camera eventually. It's just too convenient a thing not to. How many times have you scrambled to get your phone out of your bag or pocket to answer a FaceTime call and missed it? Or take a quick photo, only to have the moment pass. This way, if your favorite movie star steps up to the same valet stand you're waiting at, you'll have time to take a quick selfie with them before the valet hands them their keys.

it would be very conveneint if you could anser a facetime (video) call at least as audio only. the sort of default facetime is always video based, even when video is not needed. If im driving, facetime audio is handled by may car bluetooth in the same way regular calls are made, whereas if its video i cant even answer in audio only, and have to miss the call

Tracy's 2-Way Wrist Radio never had a camera. There were a couple of upgrades but it wasn't 'till about 18years later he got an upgrade to the 2-Way Wrist TV.

I can see Apple possibly putting a TV into the Watch, but like Tracy's Wrist Radio, that's gonna be a while. There's not much room for a camera and video takes a lot of juice. Apple will have to get very creative.

B&H is an Authorized Dealer for Apple, and very well known in NYC. I don't think this portends a camera feature any more than the Watch being sold by Best Buy or Target. B&H is just a high-visibility vendor.

I can answer a facetime call with just audio... do it all the time. I think the in-app solution to doing that is to just select "Audio" at the top of the screen... once in that mode, that's it.

I'll take "things that will never happen to me" for $1000, Alex.
