Folks, just got a call from Robert Hitch, Steve's executive assistant
Unfortunately he called when I wasn't there, soI'm gonna have to call back a little later. I sent an email to Steve outlaying the problems I've had with my G4 and old G3 as well. I'm glad to see that I got a response (I left my name, address, and telephone number). Anyone want me to say something for them? Probably if I voice some concerns about Apple Steve can hear them.

I would be very gratefull.
Yeah, I sent it to multiple accounts.
Actually I'll mention this site to him and ask Steve to check out what real users think of Apple right now.

That would be great!

Ummm...If you want to get anywhere with this I would not mention Steve's thorn in his side: AppleInsider. Worker Bee / Moles / Pictures / not Steve's favorite website.
J
But if you have the chance then:
1: Congratulate them on their new PM (they need some positive vibes other than those from the RDF, esp. when they deserve them)
2: Mention "your old pal" Fran andn how they still own him a new Powerbook G4 IMO
3: Say something like "Oh and yes please stop by AI where me and some friends are having a good time discussing Apple related topics and please participate. Its all fun"
I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my sexy secretary to flirt with. I'd probably quit.
I hate to say it but you're not dealing with anyone even close to Steve Jobs.
I did the same thing that you did when I was having my PowerBook problems and they had someone call me back as well. In the end, all I got was a guy on the other end of the line that said if I had a problem with my machine it would cost about $1000 for them to fix it even though I had an extended AppleCare protection plan.
They claimed to not have any database entries from the guy I spoke with on a near weekly basis about my PowerBook problem despite the fact that they forwarded my calls to him every time I called because that's what the ticket said to do. They claimed that I was never promised a new machine, G3/G4 or otherwise, and I believe they even tried to make my AppleCare Protection Plan disappear as every time I call Apple to get my machine fixed I had to fax them my protection plan info for them to even speak with me.
The closest I ever got to someone who worked for Steve Jobs was at Macworld where I got the email address of someone who worked for him and got some free stuff sent to me for being at the front of the keynote line (applenut's brother also got the same stuff, he will vouch for me ).
So I hate to tell horror stories about Apple's service but that's all I have with my PowerBook. Incidently, it's the only machine I've had to call Apple about so maybe I'm lucky overall, but my stories are not happy ones.
Unless you have a major problem with your machine, don't expect much help or anything free. Don't ever expect to speak to Jobs or anyone higher up in the chain either as it just doesn't (normally) happen.
Just my experiences. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
I talked to a fellow here in Atlanta who's company does some work with Apple. He was sad to report several customer experiences with Apple that echo Fran's. The feel-good thing is something that allows the company to tread all over people and continue to have devotees.
It's just a company Tiger, don't expect for them to send the Gulfstream to pick up your machine...but good luck!
And don't mention AppleInsider, whatever you do.
I'm serious.
