"what do you watch on TV that isn't available on Netflix, Hulu?"

CBS shows! Yes, CBS has a limited number of episodes available to stream from their website, at pretty bad quality.

CBS shows have been hard to watch on Apple TV unless you don't mind shelling out $40 for a season pass on iTunes.

Full (including Sunday football?) CBS for $6... that seems 'somewhat' reasonable. There must be a catch or I missed something. CBS is about the only network (Sherlock) I watch anymore

Prepare for 'rant' or move on to next comment---

I get most of the premium movie channels. Its a mazing how many times and for how many years they play the same basic movies over and over again. Does Hollywood screw them that much they cannot have some variety? Even TCM seems to have gone down hill this year.

If Apple could get 'local' channels... that would be great. But-- I only watch for the occasional local weather or big local news story, otherwise they are useless... IMO.

Last, surely not least-- most networks (history, discovery, Sci ('how its made' channel)) only have one or two shows to see for about 6-10 weeks and that's it. What a scam!!

PS --- don't get me started on the 'dateline' or '20-20' replays on every other network... ugh., WTF!!

$6 for a channel I can for free with an OTA?

That is exactly what I was going to say this proves the content owners still do not get it. Someone needs to sue them on this. Why pay for what you get free OTA the thing is OTA will be better quality verse the compressed streaming you get over their internet.

So I can pay $6/month for the privileged of watching their commercials... No thanks. That's why I punted Hulu+.

I don't mind paying for a service, Netflix, HBO, iTunes TV shows (preferred method), or putting up with commercials (I'm getting less and less tolerant of this since the commercials are all Accident chasing lawers or drug dealing pharma companies). But I'm not going to do both! That's the falicy of this whole situation. They want it both ways... Getting paid for broadcasting (traditional commercial TV) and getting paid to receive it (subscriptions)... Sorry but NO!

As soon as sports are regularly streamed... Cable and Satellite are doomed! I get my Broncos fix OTA! I've given up on other sports for the most part. Although I really like golf again now that Tiger is out.

    Lucky for you.

But you cannot always get CBS nor NBC OTA.  That depends on where you live.  It also depends on whether or not you can have a good enough antenna to receive TV shows OTA.  This is difficult in many apartments.  It is difficult in mountainous areas. And it is difficult in rural areas.

Recently, during a power outage, I was still able to watch Comcast Xfinity on my iPhone and iPad via the over-the-air AT&T LTE cellular network.

It is a blast to be able to watch Comcast Xfinity channels anywhere on my iPhone and iPad!

I would abandon cable today if I had a way to watch live NFL/NBA.

Can you simply subscribe to the NFL and NBA via their streaming apps on iPhone and iPad???

You can cut the cable today if you want.

That isn't ridiculous. It costs lots of money to create TV shows.

Is there a list of channels available at launch? Particularly, I'm looking for the Speed and Velocity channels.

Well, Canadian Content Distributors have claimed as much, yes...  Bell says it's stealing, but the RCMP have a completely different perspective, I assure you.

Have you heard of their ad-free tier?

Totally different content delivery methods. With OTA, you have to watch what is on when it is on - there's no "on demand" to OTA.

Some of you don't understand how the different networks work. CBS All Access has been available on the iPhone and iPad as an app from the AppStore for awhile. You pay a monthly fee which gives you access to CBS current shows the day after they are broadcast. They also give you access to previous seasons of almost all of the shows aired on CBS going back to I Love Lucy. The local broadcast live streams are limited to news broadcasts and any special programming created by the local station.

CBS, NBC, and ABC all make you watch commercials through out the shows that you can't skip through. ABC and NBC make you authenticate to your cable provider. ABC has done this for a long time. It loses its authentication often it's annoying to go through the process again and again.

Bottom line is CBS is the only one that works without having cable. I've been using the CBS app for awhile and it's well worth it.

Problem is in most markets you don't even get ONE channel for $6.

In most markets the CBS app won't play live TV.  So no live Tv, no Live NFL games.

Most cable packages are $50-$60 for 100+ channels.

Well, OTA will give you the channel live.

The CBS package is really to watch shows after they aired (like Hulu) and get access to the back catalog of CBS programming.

The NBC deal is just good if you already are paying for cable. Woopee.

When people complain about $5.99 for live access + on demand from a network....I think they forget Apple still charges $3 per episode on iTunes.

And this is all that matters. Access without cable subscription. The time has passed for networks to be "skeptical and trepidacious" when it comes to streaming. There is money to be made. They need to open it up.

Isn't the attraction the ability to stream any episode whenever you want?

I doubt CBS charges TimeWarner/Comcast $6 per subscriber

It is a different model streaming to 5 million different users vs 1 stream that Comcast and Time Warner rebroadcast.  PLUS you get the back catalog.  Sounds like Apple Music hmmmmmmmmm except this is CBS TV.

For the $6 you get access to their entire repository of shows.

You can watch them when, where and how you want. (Rewind, Fast Forward, Pause, Replay etc...)

That is the future of TV.

Having said that, I would wait for the Apple skinny bundle.

It's funny how many people were whining for ages about Cable and how it's so expensive, and now more and more channels are being available online for a subscription, and people are whining about that too. Did ya think that it was all going to be free? Haha.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

I can't get cable and my house is in the wrong position for satellite, so I have to go with OTA (over-the-air), thus I cannot use any of the 'Big-4' services nor any of the 'Watch Now' services. This sucks! The only Internet I can get is point-to-point radio that is restricted to a max of 10mbps and my LTE service is as slow as molasses in January!

Please, Apple, PLEASE, come up with an ala carte plan that does not require cable or satellite service! PLEASE!

OTA don't give you past broadcasted contents.
