There's an interesting article there that I've already posted on many other (non-Mac ) sites. I'm interested to hear AppleInsider's opinion of it.

From what I gathered from the article, it seems like most new technologies that allow the recording, transfer, and playback of audio and visual media have been allowed because although they could be used illegally, they also have legitimate uses. Now they want to make it so if it can be used illegally, it's automatically illegal? So now, hmm, everything I own except my large furniture is illegal by that standard. I could use my computer to commit fraud! I could use my card to crash into a store and rob it! I could even use my stereo system to smash someone's head!
This is just ridiculous, but I'm afraid that the government will go along with it, because everyone currently involved is an ignorant pinhead who doesn't understand the first thing about technology. Those big-shot electronics and computer companies need to band together and take a stand against this!
The movie industry is a whole other case though. Personally I hate watching movies on my computer. I like going to the movies. The only way I can see this changing is if I buy myself a projector and set it up like that. I just don't see the threat being as real...of course I suppose if you had a copy you could go for piracy and sell it but people could do that with the VCR.
Frankly I don't see what hollywood is worried about but that may be because I don't care about the industry.
