Wow! I was just talking with a friend of mine that works for the Apple Store near me, and he says that the store is having a MAJOR event/party to bring out OS X 10.2 (Jaguar). I saw one of the shirts the employees will be wearing... very COOL!

It's all happening between 10pm and midnight, with the realease of 10.2 happpening at exactly 10:20.

Here is the <a href="http://www.apple.com/events/instore/"; target="_blank"> link</a>to Apple's website where they describe the festivities.

Should be fun! Hope to see you all there!

I was thinking about going Friday night but since i'm not going to be buying Jaguar there (since I ordered it online) why bother going? If I'm at the mall on Friday night like I am a lot of the time maybe I'll go in and check it out.

some apple fan... maybe you'll stop by if your there. what better do you have to do in the Palisades Mall? And you've never been to a Macworld yet live an hour away from the Javits Center...

honestly boy, you need some more Apple spirit

hmm, i wonder what the free gifts are. i also wonder if i'd be able to pick up my $20 copy since i ordered a machine after the 17th if a had a receipt or something with me. i should call them up and find out. if i could pick up the copy for $20 i'd do it in a heartbeat.

You don't have to have an actual Apple Store in your area for this. Any official Apple retailer will do. I work at <a href="http://www.akmacstore.com"; target="_blank">The Alaska Mac Store</a> in Anchorage, and we're participating in this event. We will have givaways, an Apple rep will be demoing Jaguar, and 10.2 goes on sale at 10:20 pm.

    Should be fun.

You know, since it's so late and there aren't THAT many stores (how many people could POSSIBLY show up, nation-wide?), part of me halfway believe that they might have a thing where, from 10:20 to midnight, OS X Jaguar might be severely discounted.

I'd like to think "free", but that's probably pushing it.

They should sell it for $10.20

I'm actually considering jetting down tomorrow night, just in case. Even if that's not going to happen, I may go ahead and buy it anyway. Plus, there will be other prizes and stuff, plus Jaguar movies on screen, etc.

    Mac geek camaraderie, in short.

If anyone goes, I'll be the guy in a black shirt, jeans and white New Balance shoes, wearing a UPS hat.

and with the limited user base in texas, not many people would go to the dallas store...which means there could actually be a chance of winning the free giveaway imac. damn, i wish it wasnt a 4 hour drive...

There isn't one in Philly either. But one of the resellers here (Springboard Media) is having one of their own. You should see if a reseller out there is too.

I live 30 minutes away from San Francisco and I haven't been to that Macworld. I live an hour from Palo Alto and I won't be there tonight.
