Agree, Apple has a lot of work to do.

Totally agree, I love Apple, but the map program can't be trusted.

I have been trying to use Apple maps since it was released, but just can't trust it. It has taken me to POI's that don't exist or are closed down several times.

You really can't beat Google Maps when it comes to finding a POI. From the warning when traveling to a destination that may be closed by the time you arrive to the best predictive traffic. No navigation system is perfect and they will all steer you the wrong way a time or two, but Google Maps by far is the most trustworthy with directions and POI information.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Waze as an option. If you need to take some side streets to avoid a traffic jam in the 'burbs, Waze will find you that zig zag route.

Apple Maps is made by people who obviously live in San Francisco

    ....

After one year, this Wal-Mart is STILL missing.

While you're being elitist, I realize that Wal-Mart is the largest chain of stores in the world. If Apple can't get the addresses of the most visited store in the US, what hope do they have for mom and pop stores, or anything else for that matter?

And yes, the Cupertino bubble is related--there's no Wal-Marts in the SF Bay Area.

    Best solution? Bullsh*t.

Apple Map is the best.  HERE Maps for offline if you ever need it.
Keep Google software off of your iOS device at all cost.
Use the web to access Search & YouTube ignore the rest.

BTW, I have been comparing Bing search results to Google search and Bing has been better lately.
Try it for yourself.  Bing search results are excellent and better organized with a nicer presentation.

Dream on all you like. Man I love apple but when some people just can't find that other companies have some cool stuff and it's always apple apple Apple it pisses me off. Lol.

Ya Bing is better than google search. Apple maps is better than google maps ect. Why don't you email Larry page and tell him to close his lil thrift shop down. It's no good. Lol

No. TomTom USA downloads all maps in the USA to the iOS device, needs no data connection, works incredibly well on iPhone or cellular iPad, has great 3D images, is my favorite iOS app, and is on sale 1/2 price right now.

I don't live in the US. I live in Europe and I travel a lot. What's the cost for having all the worlds maps apps? Also how much space does this occupy on you device? I have a feeling it's a lot whereas Google does not really occupy a lot.

I've recently been to Rio de Janeiro, Lima (Peru), Budapest Hungary and Athens Greece. Transit info on google maps on all these cities works spectacularly with google maps. I tried Apple maps on a few of those cities and it's either non existent (mist cases) or works poorly. That's my 2 cents.

What we need right now is anti collision devices on all new cars. Like front end collision warnings with brake assist.

Totally agree. But there is a huge market for them in the retired population. Many would rather spend their life savings on a self driving car than give up their license and the associated loss of independence.

It's my understanding a self driving car won't help them keep their driving license.

A fully capable passed driver is always necessary behind the wheel,  for some situations and just in case.

So if they can't drive, it's another driver or public transportation.

I'm definitely  a senior, but fortunately still very capable.

Here we have to have our eyes and reflexes checked every few years once we have reached 80 yrs.

If we are questionable a full driving test is required.

If it gets to not requiring a fully licensed driver behind the wheel, I'll not travel on or even near  our roads at all !!!

Here Bing is a bad joke.  :wow:   Behind my house is a 100 ft deep ravine about 1/2 mile long.

Early surveys positioned our city roads in a regular pattern regardless of the terrain.

There are early mapped roads behind my house, which will NEVER be built because it is now protected parkland.

Bing routes people down these undeveloped roads into the ravine.

In the early years of personal GPS occasionally cars driving down our street would stop if we were mowing the lawn and ask why the road that Bing shows them isn't there.  :D

As for Google vs Apple Maps;  Google I find better in the country plus Google has Street View

which is very valuable when one is in an area for the first time.

To be sure of my negative statement on Bing I just tried it and all never to be built streets but one are gone. But the long street remaining is now 300ft away on the other side of the ravine instead of adjacent to my property. It is an incomplete connecting street, which ends about 500 ft downhill of my property. People coming up from the downhill end now have to turn out to the main road. My house by address is now placed by Bing a few 100 ft along our street, actually on the ravine park. I tried the new Bing as suggested, same result.

IMO Bing here is even worse than previously.

MS should just concentrate on improving Windows, else they will continue as a loser until they have no personal users.

M$ your software is as crappy as ever !!!

IBM knew what they were doing when they recently gave up on Windows for IBM employee use and bought many MacBooks.

I'm switching from Apple Maps to Google Maps depending on my needs, but I tend to use the Apple's app more often.

But I'm a little bit confused about this news: aren't offline downloaded maps already available on Google Maps ??? :\

Offline maps is invaluable to me. Once Apple moves to that option, I don't know if I'll ever need Google maps (expect for that occasion when Apple maps can't find a location that Google maps can, yet it still happens).
I recently went to Kauai and before the trip I downloaded 2 maps of the entire island (couldn't fit the entire island on 1 map). During our stay, there were may times we were in a dead or very low connection zone while driving and looking for points of interest. Offline maps allowed us to continue to navigate and find our way. This is an invaluable feature that makes Google maps superior in some situations.
