CF PC card adapter

I'm looking for a good Compact Flash PC Card adapter that will work with a TiBook (667 DVI), iPhoto (1.1.1 and 2 whenever it comes out... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> ), and OS X (10.2). Something fast and something cheap (preferably) if it can do other formats then thats just a bonus... but these are the main functions I am going to be using it with...

    I have had great success with a 5-in-1 USB card reader for OS9. It takes compact flash/Microdrive, Memory Stick, Secure Digital media, and one more I can't remember to make 5. A few models also have a built-in drive (32-256MB). It's slow, but the software is stable, it is hot-swapable, and compact.



    However, my PCMCIA CF adapter routinely crashes my computer, corrupted the directory of both hard drives attached to my laptop requiring a reformat, and you have to restart to switch between compact flash cards.



    I would go with USB, if firewire adapters are not available.

    What company is the card from? I should probably stay away from them...



    I saw a good one @ MWNY, but I cant remember the name <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />



    It doesnt make sense for me to go USB because i can currently do that for free using the camera...

    I just use a generic brand adapter.



    it cost me £9.99 ukp



    no problems at all.

    I have a $9 Dane-Elec PCMCIA Compact Flash card adapter in my PC Notebook. I just popped it in and was ready to go (showed up as a regular drive). Same thing with my MicroDrive and PC Card adapter. I am sure OS X will have the same plug and play ability with these devices as XP does. Data transfers are faster than USB as well. Great way to transfer photos from a DigiCam.



    On my Mac (since it's a desktop) I use a PNY USB CF Card reader. Just plug it in and it mounts on the Desktop.

    Actually, it came with my IBM Microdrive.

    </strong><hr></blockquote>I actually just picked up one of these last week. Great little device and a steal at $40. I use every slot except for the Memory Stick, but my cousin has a Sony camera - so it's good for when we upload her pics when she's over.



    Also, if a PC Card adapter has screwed up anyone's system, I think the problem might be with the computer. These PC Card readers are all the same and mine have worked great for years. Including my MicroDrive PC Card reader.

    Hey, just out of curiosity, what kind of camera do you have. I have a Canon D-60. Transferring pictures over USB with that camera is sooo slow. Some users report 26K per second! That's why I got the 5-in-1 USB card reader. (That and the drive stuff)
