Apple to end One to One Group Training on Dec. 17, launch streamlined reservation page

After phasing out One to One personal training memberships earlier this year, Apple is slowly winding down services for existing members, recently announcing an end to Group Training and reservation page tweaks.




According to Apple, One to One Group Training will be removed as a service option on Dec. 17, the same day a simplified reservation webpage is expected to launch. AppleInsider reader Daniel noticed the scheduled change on his One to One membership landing page on Monday.

It appears the new reservations system might affect stored notes, as Apple urges users to download said data before the 17th. Members can do so by clicking on the View Profile link and selecting "Email your notes."

One to One was introduced in 2009 as a $99 annual membership service designed to help customers set up and use Mac and iOS hardware and software. Members were able to attend personal or group sessions, including popular Personal Setup training for new users, at brick-and-mortar Apple Stores.

Apple killed off One to One in September in favor of themed Workshops that help users take full advantage of Apple's products. Current training categories include Discover, Create, Organize, Accessibility and Business.

Most recently, Apple announced specialized Workshops for 2015's Hour of Code, offering kids hour-long introductions to computer coding at select Apple Stores. The first sessions ran today and are scheduled to wrap up on Dec. 12.

    No. One to Ohe started in 2007. Further, Personal Setup isn't, and hasn't even been, tied to the One to One program.  Finally, One toOne members gave up to a year left on their lessons.

    well I have three friends, two not very computer savvy, who all bought one to one and two got personal setup within that program. the other launched into Motion. Maybe it varies from store to store, state to state, but your emphatic "no" is a bit off.

    Personal setup might have been bundled initially but has now long been available to any new customer who purchases an Apple device.

    The "no " wasn't emphatic. Just a fact. "Personal setup" is a free service apple offers with all iPhones iPads and Macs. One to one members certainly used sessions for help setting up and for everything else related to apple products. 

    The he other point that got list in typos or auto correct is that One to One members with existing memberships aren't being cut off til this time next year.

    Sounds like folks are getting confused here. There are actually two "Personal Setup" going on. Confusion between the two is Apple's fault for using the same terms for both. One is the free 5-15 minute, gang around a table thing that you can do when you buy new stuff. The other is the data migration that came with the One to One package that involved you leaving two machines etc. Dumb ass move on Apple's part to label that "Personal Setup" on their paper work. Also, no One to One isn't ending on Dec 17. That's just the last day that anyone with an unclaimed activation code can claim it and start sessions or renew if your expiration was on or before Dec 17th. Sessions for those with active accounts will continue through next year until the memberships drop off.
