Unfortunately, the majority of the ads wouldn't even be allowed here in the UK, as advertising laws state direct comparison with competing products isn't allowed. For example, saying that her father had to spend an hour downloading Window drivers would probably be enough to have it banned.

I wake up this morning to wander over to Apple's site, and I find the new swtich Ads. It was a nice way to work my way to consciousness.

I like them also. They seem a lot more specific than the previous ones. The people actually mention specific reasons and benifits of the Macintosh. It is not just saying to switch cause PCs suck, basically. Before, the comments seemed more general, and I think this batch of Ads will better identify with causal computer users.

It is a better variety of people and ethinticity also. Very nice Apple...

Those are a nice addition. A little more well-rounded "real" group of people. Some different ethnic groups, wide variety of ages and backgrounds, etc.

I like them. I like the Christmas one best. And the smart teenager who can actually talk. That's a good one.

The one segment they haven't shown yet (in either series) is an older, senior citizen type. I've seen quite a few older people buying iMacs over the years (my friend's landlord, who is about 77, has a blueberry iMac DV).

Grandparents who might be struggling with a crappy PC would perhaps respond to a Switch ad featuring someone their age or so relating how/why they changed to a Mac?

I like how they have references to the iapps in a bunch of them, and they actually say the word 'apple'. The first ones sorta assumed you knew what the add was for.

I don't find these ones as entertaining but @ least these people seem more real than the last bunch which is good. They are some nice ADs.

He seems like your type, especially after he says "Get out of your Windows world; it's not worth it!"

Windows may be trademarked, but it also walks a fine line. A judge here basically told Microsoft piss off over the "Lindows" Linux distro's name for example. I can't imagine the UK would be any more uptight about this kind of stuff...since UK courts sound more reasonable half the time...as in cases where people spill hot coffee on their laps...

Janie Porch is a hottie! Dang, and I'm married!

Is it me or are the forums not posting some posts we write?

Anyway, I like the fact that Gautam Godse actually has something to show. I like the quote on the front page for Janie Porche..."My PC wasn't Plug-n-Play. It was Plug-n-Get-Mad." ...but these ads are really more of the same...they don't really prove anything, and that's precisely what underdog companies have to do in thse types of ad campaigns.

I'm glad they finally put up the ad with Errol Morris's son, which was previously un-aired, along with the Ellen Feiss ad. Where are the celebrity ads? <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

David Carey and Mark Fraunfelder are *not* celebrities.

These ads are solid. They looks casual and unrehearsed, and Janie's comment at the end of her ad is perfect.

Ellen Feiss is about to be unleashed on the masses!

I imagine the celebrity ads will be held back until the "normal people" ad campaign is in full swing: Then the context is "this famous person switched - just like all the normal people" instead of "like every other company on Earth, we paid this famous person big money to hold this iPod for 30 seconds."

Ludacris loves Pepsi! I love Ludacris! I love Pepsi now! That's the kind of response you get from ads. It doesn't go as deep as you think.
