    Does "This contest is open to all readers with a U.S.-based mailing address [..]" mean that regardless where on planet blue I reside the contest is open for me as long as I use an iCloud, Gmail, Live email account?

    You suspect wrong, because post #20 already confirmed that it's for all members, not just newly registered.

    As for this contest, I don't do Facebook and I don't do Twitter, and nothing will get me to change my stance on that, but I am a member of this site and I have to check my settings to make sure that I get the newsletter, so 2 out of 5 aint bad, and if lady luck is with me, then that will be sufficient enough for me to win. :)
