Predictions for Mac World Tokyo

Posted:
in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Now that MWT is just five weeks what do you think we will see there? Apple has jumped in and forecast no new CPUs.

New to the world:

?Qicktime 6 - possible

?OS X 10.1.3 - likely already out by then

?Speed bumps for iBook or TiBook - marginal chance

?Photoshop for OS X - possible

?More carbonized apps?

New to Japan:

?Presentation of iMac for Japan - Japanese keyboard, booting into OS X with Japanese script selected.

?Presentation of the new G4s. First time Steve will present GHz level G4s at any MW.

?iPhoto

?iPod

?OS X - more Japanese fonts?

?Some software presentations similar to what we saw at MWSF and at the OS X presentation at MWSF.

Other ideas?

Ti - Speed bump and better video card, probably 800mhz.

Possibly 10.2 but I think that will come at MWNY.

    Nothing else.

I don't believe it JD. Apple said that there would be no new hardware at Paris before it was cancled last year, and they didn't have anything ready in any event. This announcement is made to boost sales so that we all have confidence to buy now knowing that there is no point in waiting until Tokyo and then being dissapointed. The 1ghz machine is an Appolo and is a fine machine. I suspect we are going to see some really good benchmarks for this machine.

Nothing new with the possible debut of iMovie 3. Don't look for a webcast this year either. No G5's until 2003. The new iMac will be very popular in Japan. Apple has their lineup set for the next 6 months.

    Is ironical a word?

They said Quicktime 6 is ready, the licensing isn't. Hopefully they will have all that worked out soon.

What are the chances of a new digital hub device? Or maybe just a cut in price for the iPod, possibly a larger drive too?

Is the iPod available in Japan already?

    Headline from Macworld Tokyo:

"Apple Releases Black Turtleneck Sweater for New Imac, dubbed iNeck 1.0"

Sources close to the company are urging customers to buy now, promising that iNeck 2.0 will not be released until Macworld San Francisco, 2011." Faithful readers of the rumor sites are hotly debating whether the company is secretly planning a revolutionary tactic-- the release of iNeck 2.0 AHEAD of the release of iNeck 1.0.

    ROTFLMAO

    My predictions:

    1) it will be called MacWorld

    2) it will be in Tokyo

    3) 847 people will post threads bitching about Apple the day after the Keynote

The crystal clear promo ends March 31st. Maybe we'll see new displays as well. I'd really love to see the 17inch down to $599, but I'm sure it will be more like $799.

it's apple prepare to be underwhelmed. lots of hype on the rumor sites, nothing showing at the expo.

Apple doesn't care much about hardware anymore(speed increases at least). They will focus on software to make the user experience better.

With apple you get great design, ideas, and good execution, unfortunately also subpar performance.

After what I'm calling the "no updated TiBooks" announcement - I'm siding with the underwhelming vote.

I would hope to see iPhoto 1.x with a few improvements (let's face it, this is a great app, but clearly in its infancy), but I doubt it.

    Based on this fact...

    I predict...

Wait for it... Here it comes...

A brand new screen promo arriving on or before April 1st! Possibly, even, with a new name! Like, for instance, "The Totally Visionary Promo". Hee, hee, get it?

Bow before me and my prognostication skills!

So funny I forgot to laugh (sorry, just watched Stand By Me last night).

Whats the point? Why not just drop the price instead of just extending this promo?

I would say Apple will harp on about how iMacs are all shipping and blah blah blah.

Hopefully they might change the displays a bit (price cuts would be nice).

They will show off the Dual 1GHz PMacs. Show off some new software and all in all we'll be completely underawed by everything that appears

MacMall seems to be clearing out its TiBooks and iPods. This seems to support the idea of a speedbump in the TiBook, but an updated iPod???
  • Reply 19 of 121
ooer, like the sound of that.

    New iPod.

    10gig anyone??

Wasn't the announcement that there were no new chips? I think it may have been more of a there's no point waiting for a G5 in the next 6-9 months. If they can tweak the G4 offerings, or they get slightly better yields, I think we'll see that.
