I know that the Intel ads used to be made with macs too, not sure about the recent ones, but I'm sure they are.

But the greatest thing of all is that the entire x86 architecture is one big sellout. Intel hates the damn thing. Developers hate it. (have you ever seen x86 assembly). The only reason why it still exists is that Intel has been far too afraid of Apple and other competitors over the past 20 years, and have pushed what they knew would sell, simply because of backwards compatibility. Intel has never been ahead of the curve in terms of processor tech to the point which they could switch their architecture the way Apple did with the PPC.

    Hey Intel...

it's over. Nobody listens to techno.

i disagree. ther are many content artists who just get by. a professional artist has to make money, just like every1 else; when they sell their souls to corps for excessive gains like many artists do, then they are selling out. and art is not about that. i know this great guitarist who is happy just playing and teaching guit lessons. she hasn't sold out.

Intel goes to Moby's publishing company (whatever company that is, sony, warner-chappel, i dunno) and says we want this song for our commercial. Intel pays publishing company. Publishing company pays Moby.

Its not like Moby gets a call from some dude at intel and gets a "hey can we use your song?" "yeah! sure"

doesnt work like that. and besides even if it HAD worked like that, its notlike he wrote a song FOR the commercial. Thats what song writers write songs for. To sell albums, and to have the songs used in an as many (positive) forms as possible. Thats how song writers make a living. Give him a break. Hes a good musician and you have to go pretty far to "sell out" in the music business. Stuff like M.C. hammer walking onstage to accept an award and drinking a Pepsi whiles hes up there and throwing out a slogan or 2.

    The way I see it:

Artman wins the argument for quoting Lou Reed, and Miami Craig loses for using an image macro that would make a 13 year old 1337 HaX0r proud.

Dude, I just saw the commerical(i think that's the one... i'm not a Moby fan) and the cable cut out in the middle so it was kinda like the TV locked up.

Anyway, MiamiCraig don't put up a with thread is gay grafic after your own post. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

It pains me to hear a moby tune. He gives techno a bad name. Hopefully Apple will stop slapping him in all those web ads.

Every song off of the album before last was issued in a commercial. That dumb ass. He publicly stated that not one of the songs off his latest would be used in a commercial because he had lost so much credibility. Yeah, whatever.

That's the only he could get popular. It takes at least a semblance talent to sell millions of records without having to license every damn song on your album to advertisers.

    Yippee. I win! Off to a new day and another topic. This one's a dead issue. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Some people here haven't heard of the word "sarcasm" apparently

    Nice one Smithjoel!

If you think Eminem writes good lyrics, go read some Shakespeare and get back to me! I liked the first CD, but I think some people here could use an English class...

Besides Moby is probably using the money Intel gave him to buy new Macs.

UM, no it doesn't. do you live in a cave?

And how many people do you really think make a living off music? Here's a hint, einstein: most people, even at the highest ends of popularity, don't make shit off of music, and if they do it is only a fraction of what people at high levels of other industries make. You would have to be a ****ing moron not to license your music if you could. Thats unless you make your money some other way. Masta P didn't make money off of record sales (no one does, bozo), he made it off music money invested in other industries.

I love how all you guys try and sound like you know how the entertainment business works. Obviously by your remarks it shows that you havent the slightest idea. This is the most ignorant comment of anyone here trying to explain the music industry (though he got the part right about it being a smart move to license your song)

Anyway, Moby makes music some of you dont like. That makes him a fag? Eminem started ripping on moby because Moby said in an interview that he was offended by eminem's lyrics. So when eminem calls moby a fag, all you guys follow suit. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> Pretty lame to me.

So what is the name you make music under?

-How does Kit Clayton make a living?

-Derrick Carter obviously isn't making millions selling tracks for a couple thousand a piece.

-Nuspirit Helsinki album didn't sell very well.

    Ask TLC about music finances.

-Name one person that owns a major independent distribution company in the US that makes even $100,000 a year off of it. Or don't you have any contact with them?

-Although he plays constantly, Bobby Broom certainly isn't a rich man, yet has worked with the best in jazz, including Miles.

-Liberace is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's highest paid pianist, once earning more than $2 million for a 26-week season. That's nothing compared to a comparable position in any other industry I can think of.

Maybe you need to visit the <a href="http://www.ascap.com/musicbiz/money-intro.html"; target="_blank">ascap website</a> Maybe there you can get a clue.

Here is is: Avril Lavigne, #3 album last week (currently #2) and subject to a media blitz since its release 15 weeks ago, had only sold 1.6 million copies. Compare that to the ascap info and then factor in that her record deal certainly leaves her with little of the money coming in.

    Yup.

I'm not really sure what planet you've been living on, but perhaps you need to stop taking some of those drugs that are so very plentiful in your town.
