I don't know if some one has already posted this, and I apologize if they have, but it is hilarious and so true. I have been mostly pleased with the switch ads except for that halucenating girl. here is the link:

You guys are so mean. Just leave the poor girl alone. Teenagers have enough shit to deal with already.

I believe Apple sent the attack lawyers after a Japanese site that did a similar parody a few years back.

I feel bad for those who make jokes about Ms. Feiss, but I can't deny the humor in what they say.

Poor girl. She must be the butt of jokes in her school. Hope she can cope with it. Lets not make fun of her and apple anymore.

I think it's fu[king hilarious. The girl was obviously stoned when she filmed the ad. If she can't take a little good-natured ribbing, then she shouldn't be making public appearances in return for pay.

Remember, she got payed MONEY for doing that ad. I don't feel sorry for her one bit, on the contrary, I feel happy for her that she got such an opportunity.

    The ad looks cool.

    Teenagers get already enough shit?

Then if you are a teenager don't do a public appearance in change of money. Enjoy your joints at home, not ten minutes before filming the ad you are getting paid for...

If the things she hears at school are nasty then why don't you look around in your school and listen a bit what the fat kids hear daily?

... where can i buy one of those?

PLEASE... I am still technically a teenager, and, I'm sorry, we do not need your pitty. THis girl sounds messed up. Apple should have chosen someone better for their ads. THey do not need to freak people out with the people who they show as successful switchers. Most computer users aren't going to say

"Oh, poor girl, she is a teenager, so the fact that she sounds stupid should be excused. And on that note, I'm gonna go buy a mac."

It doesn't happen people. Apple really needs to be careful with who they choose for their ads.

This parody is not making fun of apple. It is making fun of a person in a questionable ad campaign.

    double please

The commercial shows a perfect normal teenager. She is probably more capable of talking to a camera than I was at her age and despite that I left high school with grades within the top 0,2% that year.

Time for one of Anders few generalisations: Anyone who thinks Ellen Feiss is taking drugs, a retard, a drop out or anything like that is spending too much time in that fantasy world that excists in the media where you are either 1) Perfect periode or 2) retards, croocks, criminals, terrorists etc.

In the real world 90% of all people are...dare I say it...NORMAL. Those who can´t spot normality should spend a bit more time in the real world.

Anyone ever notice that in the other swtich ads a lot of the people's eyes look red? The cop's eyes are red, the trucking company guy's eyes are red. A lot of them. I doubt they're all getting stoned.

The redness of the eyes probably comes from the way they washed out the white background or something.

We are not commenting on whether or not her eyes are red (to be honest, i never noticed that). We are commenting on the fact that she sounds like she cannot complete a coherent thought through to an appropriate ending... Maybe Apple thought they would be attracting the apathetic teenage demographic, but i really think they messed up on this one. ON the whole, i feel that the switch ads are pretty good. But the Ellen Feiss ad is strange. The ad with Hamilton for the ipod is so much better, and yet, he is a teenager. SO I do not feel that her age is a valid argument to excuse her strange behavior in the ad.

I guarantee you. This girl is in the best third of her age. And her "emotional intelligens" or whatever it is called is in the top 10 percent.

I don't get all this 'stoner' business surrounding Ellen Fliess in general. She's not stoned or stupid, she's 14. Meet enough 14 year olds and you'll see that's well above average, hamming it up on stage with a little (performative) teen malaise. As Anders points out, she's probably a fair bit more emotionally and intellectually advanced than her peers.

As for the rest of the "Would ya do her?" sickos on the net, please remember that this is a little girl you're all talking about.

I mean, I act stupid 'cause it's the net, and that's what the medium deserves, but I get the feeling that a lot of people out there are just that stupid in real life.

Well, if she is fourteen, i really question apple's intelligence in choosing the people who they place in their ads... How many 14 year olds have the kind of pocket change it would require to buy a mac. There are of course, some. But not many. And then of course, there is the fact that she seems to be retarded. I am sorry folks, I don't care what kind of grades she gets, she does no help for Apple sales when it sounds like she is on something.

Any more retarded than the dell guy? Seriously, reaction to her ad suggests that of all the 'switchers' she is the most appealing/charismatic to the widest audience. That ad works. Some of you people amaze me, you'll gladly get reamed with steve's unlubed price pointer, but you complain about a very successful ad. I don't get it ???

Around my high school, I'd have to say she sounds better than a normal 14 year old. Then again, half the kids really are pot heads. You get used to hearing the mumbleing and hard to understand crap. Sorry everyone, but teenagers really dont care how they sound, as long as they get heard.
  • Reply 18 of 23
Matsu, Successful you say? Where are the numbers... How many 14 year olds has she attracted towards the mac platform?

And as irritating as the Dell guy is, he is somewhat eloquent, even if he only speaks colloquially and at a teenage level.

Do you think that the kids who will be asking their parents to get them a computer will remember the Dell guy or Ellen Feiss more positively? I for one say the dell guy even though he is annoying (i've said that twice now).

Plus, a little question. How does anyone know that she is 14 yrs old? It's clear that she is a teenager, but 14? I don't know. Just wondering, because the Apple website says nothing of her age.

14: that's what the news outlets said when the ad originally came out. You'll note that it has created quite a stir. Think viral marketing. You don't have to like her, she just has to propogate throughout the network to be successful. She can even be annoying, like the dell guy, it doesn't matter. That's not the point, exposure is. BTW, the dell guy is another very successful ad for similar reasons.
