Ellen Feiss.net = Creepy bunch

She was just a kid in high school suddenly offered a TV spot. An oppertunity like this is rare, but exciting. Ellen probably thought "Cool!" as she was given a chance to be seen around the world, be taken to MacWorld and for a moment, become a familiar face to millions

She probably thought that she might attract some attention from people who recognized her on the street, people in school, etc. But she most likely believed it would blow over after a little while. In a couple months it would be "Ellen, who?"

But sadly, Ellen Feiss' ad has evolved into something of an obsession for some. While a few parodies are nothing to think twice about, it has certainly gone beyond that.

Way, way beyond that.

It was OK when people made funny Photoshops, lame jokes about her sobriety during the filming of the TV spot, but sadly, that is simply not enough for some.

I laughed at the jokes, showed people the doctored images.

I'm not laughing anymore.

And I'm sorry there are so many sick people out there.

I found a link to <a href="http://www.ellenfeiss.net/index.html"; target="_blank">EllenFeiss.net</a> . Funny Photoshops, links to her ad, and those of others. The creepy factor was increased when I saw someone had sent them a scan of her 5th grade school photo. I tried to dismiss that as just some kids in her school having a little fun at her expense. After all, she was "famous" now. Dragging possibly embarassing photos of "famous" people out of the closet is an industry. VH1 even has a show dedicated to it.

So I dismissed it. I thought "Well, that's about as far as they will go."

They went further...

Too damn far, in my opinion.

Ever want to see what Ellen looks like while taking a test in school? No? Well, somebody thought we would all want to. Some sick individual(s) snuck a camera into a class they had with her and <a href="http://www.ellenfeiss.net/images/gallery/ellen.class.jpg"; target="_blank">took this picture</a>

<a href="http://www.ellenfeiss.net/images/gallery/ellen.class.2.jpg"; target="_blank">and this one</a>

<a href="http://www.ellenfeiss.net/index.html"; target="_blank">Ellen Feiss.net</a> has taken parody and casual interest and started on the road to obsession.

I don't like it.

So now they're invading her life as a private citizen?! (And she's a minor, so the "public figure" defense doesn't wash.)

They've definitely crossed a line. If my teenage daughter's picture was being taken secretively like that and plastered all over the net there would be heads rolling. That's nightmare #1 for any parent. Never mind her own reaction.

I really hope she's got a thick skin and people looking out for her.

Not that I've looked overly much but are you certain the pictures were taken secretively?

My sympathies to her and especially her family though. I highly doubt they expected all this.

edit: well, I could add more, but there really isn't much more to say.

Now we have established that the next question is: How do we take down the site <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

DoctorGonzo, if you're so disgusted by the whole Ellen Fiess obsession thing, why did you post links to her pictures?

Again I'd like to ask how does anyone know she was unaware the pictures were being taken? I'd be surprised if she didn't know. In a confined class room reasonably close distance and she didn't hear the camera? Perhaps it was noisy but that doesn't really look to be the case.

I certainly can't see it being difficult to track down the culprit if the parents wanted to and harrassment of students would be enough for the school to act. I believe you'd probably find she knew the photos were being taken though.

Whoa, you mean that the media/internet is invading Ellen Fiess's PERSONAL LIFE? No way! That's NEVER happened before.

What's next, impeaching a president for something he did in his personal life??!?! <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Are people going to start putting up CELEBRITY FAN SITES???

What is this world coming to?!?!?!

[serious]Yeah, it's not right, but why are you surprised? This sort of thing has been going on for a decade or two. The public has no sense of decency, no respect for privacy.[/serious]

We do have a right to be angry about it. I'm not so much shocked as appalled.

My digital camera is dead silent. I've been using it for candid photos of people ever since I got it.

The boredom of the students cracks me up.

    What EmAn said, basically.

I was trying to make a point about how far this whole thing is going.

I don't mind parodies and jokes. I enjoy them, actually.

But photos of her taken in secret during school is unacceptable and is an intrusion on her personal life.

i was very surprised to see the popularity this lil' chick got. it definitely is creepy that she's being watched all the time. but, i am somewhat appeased knowing that its disgusting pc-users who gawk at her and not my mac brethren. the background pics have pictures favoring the right, which on any mac-lovers desktop is blocked by icons (windows and many linux-variants have icons on the left). damn it feels good to be a gangster.

Dunno....Seems odd to me that someone who is trying to dissuade people from producing such sites would provide not one but two links to the home page as well as links to two similar photos that could have just as easily been described as linked to.

If you truly want this site taken down and not visited over and over by users here as I think you do. Then you won't mind if I publish the registrant's information for people to send complaints to:

So I guess starting a web site about this <a href="http://www.apple.com/switch/ads/janieporche.html"; target="_blank">chick</a> would be out of the question...
