I love my mac!

There really is no point to this thread other than to say that I love not having to use a PC. I'm sitting here in the only decent coffeeshop in Durham and they have a wireless network. I open up my computer and voila! I'm there. Two tables down, there's a couple having all sorts of trouble getting their PC laptop on the network.



"Check the settings. Save. Reboot," the barrista says to the customers.

"Oh, that didn't work? Sorry."



hehe.

    I wish I had some places to use wireless Internet around here that would be great. Maybe some time in the future but hopefully when I am done with college I will be living in an area that has it.

    There is nothing to configure on either a Mac or PC when it comes to wireless (or even wired ethernet for that matter). I have setup many Macs (OS X) and PCs (XP) using wireless connections and both have worked right out of the box. If it's 802.11 standard, then there are no settings to check and no reason to reboot (unless you want to change the default settings for whatever reason). Even if there are issues on either platform, it's usually the wireless technology that's in your hardware that's to blame. My PC Notebook has much better range than my friend's TiBook and we use the same base station. I wouldn't call his Mac inferior because he kept getting dropped off the network. However, the wireless technology of choice that Apple used in his TiBook model may be a bit questionable. It's all relative.

    I love me wife But she thinks I love my new iMac even more I don't have the same experience when it comes to networking PC's as the previous poster. Much easier on a Mac. At least that's me experience

    I guess some of you missed the line where I said that this thread has no point. It was just an appreciation thread more than anything else. Some of you need to lighten up. I was just happy with the way things were going for me. Sorta like saying "I love the south in the fall because it's not too cold yet. I was just listening to a couple of people complaining about the rainy cold they have to deal with." Loosen up.

    Lucky me. As soon as I powered up my iBook after installing its Airport card I discovered several of my neighbors are running 11b networks. I'm covered by no less than 3 different networks. 1 at the east end, 1 at the west end, and 1 covers me throughout the tiny apartment. 3 bars solid, 4 comes in and out. The speeds are very nice.



    It's a college town, so that helps explain 11b density.

    From now on, artman, the only time I'll ever think that that pic is clever is if comes from you. Everyone else should be banned from using it.



    Oh, and I still love my mac. And I like living in the South in the fall because it's not cold and rainy like some places. (For the mentally challenged among us, I'm NOT saying that it's ALWAYS cold and rainy other places, just that it's nice down here in the fall.)

    I agree ! My Cube and my DP500 working together give me a synergy that I wouldn't get with any one system. I plan to add a TiBook to this mix when price/performance issues become compelling but I don't plan on adding a GPUL'ed tower whenever they come out.



    For me, a dual processor TiBook would be the ticket.

    I'm so retarded I'll probably build a home brew Mac instead of a PC. Damn, that would take care of my funds alright. But it would be soooo much fun.

    I've always loved my iBook but now I love it more since I upped the RAM to 640MB.
