Not only that, but WBZ Radio 1030 is reporting that the deal might even move the show to Boston in 2003, with the show being held at the Hynes convention center.

Macworld is back in Boston!

    Too bad for you then I guess. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

No one's going to say that NY doesn't have a lot to offer, but Boston's got some great places to visit as well.

Plus, if you really want to go to Macworld, Boston is much cheaper than New York.

Boston boring? Have you ever even been to Boston? NYC is great, don't get me wrong. But there's a charm to Boston that NY will never match. Besides, Boston has sooooo many college and bars, its a very "young" city if you know what I mean. Its just a very fun atmosphere. Plus its about 100x cleaner and safer than NYC. (feels that way at least, I could be wrong, thats just my impression).

Anyway, I'm excited that its coming back to Boston. Sure its a longer trip for me, but its a great excuse to visit Beantown, which I do every year anyway.

THis is bad news folks... Boston may be nice, but no matter how you feel about New York, it brings in the press... Besides, Boston is so far north, we need a more central city... LIke NYC.

Who cares about the press? Does it really matter if they are there? Do they really care? Besides, any publication that's not tech related, that has any size to it, has an office in Boston.

I'm glad it's in Boston. I like Boston more, plus more people I know live there, it's less frenzied, and lastly I can hit up the MIT fleefest in one trip.

The Boston area has tons of technology companies and as for the press, I'm sure they will be there as always.

Remember the show that got the most press for a Macworld was the last one in Boston.

I'm happy it's back in Boston. I've been to NY and it's a great city. Now I have an excuse to visit Boston in the summer.

In fact, given that there are so many Apple Stores around the U.S., Apple should consider other cities. How about Chicago...right in the heart of America.

Better yet, let's have one here in Toronto, (Canada). You Americans will have a blast with our cheap dollar!

Too bad I already have an internship lined up with Philip Morris maybe it will start late?

Bad move. Apple needs exposure in the popular press, and nothing beats NY for that.

Who actually has time to go to a city of a Macworld and do something other than the show? Every Macworld I go to, my only free time is at night, and I save that for the few parties that we're still lucky enough to have. I've yet to miss an Apple Developer Party

Really though, when I go to MWNY, I don't go to the statue of liberty or the Empire State Building. I go to the Javits, then to a bar, then back to my hotel, and repeat. What does the "boringness" of the city really have to do with much of it?

Dammit. New York was so much cooler. I wish they hadn't cancelled the New Yorks of the futures.

Oh well, on the bright side, it will be cheaper to go to Boston. (You get what you pay for. )

Because some people come from far away and want to have some time for sight seeing and stuff.

First of all have any of you ever been to Boston? It's hardly boring. I live here and still find it more exciting then NY. Trust me there are penalty of fun and interesting things to see and do here. Boston is full of culture, history, and entertainment.

And who cares if the world head quarters of NBC isn't down the street. It's doesn't mean TV reports don't exist here. This is Boston, not a third world country. Apple and everyone else can get just as much publicity here as anywhere. I personally can't see this being a problem at all. This is why we have satellites, people, so we can broadcast news to other places.

The abundance of students and high-tech industry in general is also another very good reason to have the expo in Boston. Plus it's cheeper for vendors and expo goers to attend an expo in Boston.

In the long run, however, the move probably won't affect the show much at all. Vendors will come, people will come, Apple & other companies will make announcements, money will be made and in the end its all about the money.

In regards to hotels being cheaper in Boston... I don't recall them being that much cheaper than New York, but since I live here, I really don't look at the prices that much.

Even though they are being offered free rent, and it will overall be cheaper for IDG to have the show in Boston, you don't honestly believe that they will pass those savings on to the exhibitors or, god forbid, the actual attendees? IDG is going to pocket every penny, and prices for exhibitors and attendees won't go down, they'll keep going up like they have been for years...

True, nothing beats NY for exposure, but exposure is not always good.

Especially if they don't have much lined up.
