Apple on Thursday pushed out an update for the Android version of Apple Music, delivering support for music video playback and new billing options for families.

With version 0.9.8, Apple Music for Android grants users of Google's mobile platform access to thousands of music videos hosted on Apple servers, many of which are exclusive to Apple Music services.

In the Android iteration, videos for fresh and popular tracks are integrated directly into the app's "New" section. Users can also search for music videos via Apple Music's search feature, much like the app's iOS counterpart.

In addition, Android device owners can now sign up or upgrade to an Apple Music Family Membership plan in-app. Apple's family plan allows Apple Music access for up to six people and comes in at only $14.99 per month, as compared to $9.99 per month for single users.

Apple last updated Apple Music for Android in February with an option to save downloaded songs to an SD card. The feature is limited to Android devices, some of which come with built-in SD expansion slots.

Following a debut on Apple's digital platforms last summer, Apple Music hit Android in November as an iTunes-powered alternative to streaming music products from Spotify and Pandora. The subscription service touts human-curated playlists, live Beats 1 radio programming, iTunes Connect and access to past iTunes song purchases.

Apple Music for Android version 0.9.8 is a free 32MB download from the Google Play store. The app requires Android version 4.3 to run.

Why is Apple making these people happy? There should be a notice that says "Only available on iOS" when trying to access certain features.

Because if Apple Music isn't competitive with the MANY music services already available on Android, no one is going to choose the inferior option. Do you honestly think that people are going to give up their Samsung Galaxy or Nexus 6P just to listen to Apple Music? Of course not. They will keep their Android devices and listen to Spotify and Google Play Music instead. Which is, you know, what they did before Apple Music was released in 2015 in the first place.

Because these people shouldn't be judged by the smart phone they use. They can be your friends or relatives..

I can't understand this point of view.

If Apple Music gets subscriptions from non-Apple users it's a good thing.

Plenty of Windows users pay for songs, TV shows, or movies in iTunes. Enough to make worth Apples time to have a Windows version of iTunes.

Just because someone didn't purchase Apple hardware doesn't mean Apple should leave that services money on the table.

Same reason why google offers the full suit of features of play music.

Think of it like this if Google releases a heavily gimped iOS app for search, people don't say oh let me go to Android. They think. "Wow Google doesn't care about me I'll use a different app." This does not cover pay walls.
