New Monitor

Alright, I've got a 17" Flat CRT monitor. I like it but it's too small. I want a new montior, but I don't have a lot of money.

Is a 19" worth $250? Is a 19" that much bigger?

Is a 21" worth $550+?

Is a 17" LCD worth $550+?

Is the LCD better than than the 21" CRT?

Debate away.

Two days ago I received my DP 867 and Viewsonice 19" LCD

    I love it all!!

Even though I did upgrade from a imac revision B, this is one helluva boost for me.

As for the monitor I love it! Its so big compared to my little imac 14" : )

If you get an LCD, it's worth it to spend a bit more.

I got my 19" Viewsonic at Tech for less.com for about $750... it has the DVI output I wanted.

I'd take a look at the SGI 1600SW flat panel. They're all over ebay. It's a 17" widescreen flat panel with lightning fast pixel responses times. It runs at 1600x1024. You would need a Multilink adapter, also made by SGI, to run it on a mac. It's hands down one of the best flat panels out today despite the fact that SGI no longer manufactures it (they now manufacture a 22" 1600x1024 panel)

You can find the panel with a multilink adapte ron ebay for under a thousand usually, and the display is easily worth every penny.
