AI?

I was talking to a friend this summer and she was saying something about a comptuer (perhaps texas) where a computer asked a question that it wasn't programmed to ask and they have not answered it and it hasn't been used since....does anyone else have any info on this, i would be much inclined to read some thigns about this

    well she said her one college professor was talking about it in a class, and i found it very interesting

    AI is all about this kind of thing, computers going beyond what they are coded for and learning as they go. Though I doubt this computer used some form of AI?
