What Powerbook case do you recomend?

I just purchased a Powerbook G4 1Ghz w/ Superdrive, and I need a case to protect my baby! Anyone have any suggestions?

\t

Also I heard that sometimes their screens get marked up when they are closed with the oils that are deposited using the keyboard. Anyone know what to do about this?

Thanks for your help!

Chris

Go to <a href="http://www.macsales.com"; target="_blank">www.macsales.com</a> and get the powerbook keyboard protector.. i think it's less than 15 bucks, def worth the investment!

    hey,

Thanks a lot for the info on the screen protector. I will definately be buying one of those...a great deal I might add. Do you have a case that you like or dislike. I'm in the market for one too.

    Thanks a lot

My sister has the Brenthaven Titanium-1, which is available in a few Mac catalogs and at the Apple Store. It's a medium sized brief...no nonsense...conservative styling.

<a href="http://www.sfbags.com"; target="_blank">waterfield bags</a> makes some nice courier/briefcase like bags, and some very nice sleeves. also, i too may be looking for a case/bag soon, and am trying to remember the name of these bags that sony metreon in sf was selling about a year ago (they may still be selling them, i don't know). they had a line of briefcase/tote bags, planners, etc. cloth and leather, look like kate spade but a bit with interesting patterns. obviously meant for women. ring any bells?

I second the waterfield design bags. I have a medium cargo bag and a G4 sleevecase, and it's amazingly functional. Don't be put off by the high price, it's worth it.

I own a large cargo and a G4 Sleevecase by waterfield. They have some combo deals right now where you can get one of their bags, a sleevecase, and a gear pouch for sometimes up to $50 off. Definitely worth it, the bags are well made and look great.

For cases, check out the Zero Halliburton Z5; and Pelican's 1470 and 1490. I think I'll be in the market soon myself and I'll tend toward the Pelican. If I was considering a bag, I think I'd go for Brenthaven's version for the TiBook.

Nothing against Timbuk2, but they're laptop bags are basically the same as their messenger bags. In other words, they are huges and loose. The Waterfield bags are slightly oversized too.

The Brenthaven bag is short and wide like the TiBook itself. The outer bag is complemented by a removable cushioned sleeve too, just like the Timbuk2s and a few of the Waterfield combos. I especially like the metal-rod reinforced handles.

    Try these people: <a href="http://www.aluminiumcases.com/comps.html"; target="_blank">http://www.aluminiumcases.com/comps.html</a>;

They can custom make for any needs.

I use a Crumpler bag as I carry my camera's too:

It really depends on the look you want. I've got a timbuk2 bag and I love it. It's waterproof and durable. The sleeve is pretty much a requirement, though. If you want a stuffy conservative look ( ) for your bag, see some of the other comments. If you want something that says you're not just a bank, but have good taste too, get a timbuk2 bag. Great company, great service. Nice bags.

I use a backpack from SMB. It's great! It fits the Ti perfectly, have room for all my cables, CDs, books I need for Uni, etc. The best part though, is that it doesnt look like a computer backpack. They have made it look like a sports bag, so that people seeing it wont go "I bet he has a lot of expensive equipment in that backpack"!

I bought mine at my local Apple reseller here in Brisbane, Australia, for about 50 USD, but I got a 15 USD discount bacause I bought a PB at the same time.

I dont know if it is avaliable in the states or not, but I think Belkin has a similair backpack.

<a href="http://www.jrhillandcompany.com"; target="_blank">www.jrhillandcompany.com</a> has vinyl and leather screen protectors.

Does anyone have any information as to which is better for the Titanium.

I was thinking the vinyl because the leather might absorb heat from the LCD and base of the computer.

On the other hand, the vinyl might be a rougher surface than the leather.

    Thoughts?

The Timbuk2 bags are great, they're what I used when I was a bike messenger. I understand now they make more consumer friendly bags... it used to just be truck tarp, cordura, and a radio holster

While I'm a really big fan of tb2, for a laptop case, I'd still look at Waterfield.

    Hey,

    I have two bags.

My first is a Krumpler bag, which is very similar to a timbuk2 bag, but I find it too big and rather impractical.

The second is a STM bag which is a little bigger than the TiBook itself and allows me to just use that or put that case in one of my other backpacks etc. Its a very cool little bag and so damm cheap! You also get another little bag that fits all your adapters (Power, VGA-DVI, etc etc)
