Prices will come down
Today I stopped into a Gateway store to see their new plasma TV, no it's not a "high end" plasma display but at least in the store it looked nice for the price ($2,999).
With the price of the Gateway TV and the new Sony 23" LCD display for about $2600 prices are sure to come down, I'd expect the Apple HD Cinema display to come down in price pretty soon if Apple wants to compete.
I'd love to see the Sony in person but haven't found a retail store that has it yet.
What do you think of using a 42" plasma TV as a monitor?

That's why LCD's are much sharper and hence more expensive. It's also why you don't see 60" LCD displays but rather Plasma ones.
