the floppy is a physical drive difference that i'm sure costs more, but the CD thing, first off MS ideology and apple is completely different, but MS shows the CD in the 'my comptuer' (ew, i understand that why were going for, but you have to open that just to get to ur HD)!
you can eject it from the computer by right clicking on it, and then it auto ejects it but there isn't another way, i do kinda wish apple had a manual eject, but then you can't accidently take it out while its still in use so i give apple props on good planning...just another thing that makes apple smarter then MS...fact is i think MS is just so stupid they dont know how to copy a good thing, i mean look at their OS, copied and still managed to make it sux!
Windows XP is alot nicer then any other windows though...cept lack of privacy
I know this I realy though having to press the butten on the PC was crapy. Working PC tech support it would have saved a lot of headaches for people who left a floppy in the drive then rebooted to get an "INVALID BOOT DIVICE" error message. That really freaked them out.

Fast forward to 2002 and I've removed all icons off my desktop and have to go to computer to access a cd. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
Well, in the 80's, it probably was because DOS didn't actually mount disks, so you could eject them whenever you wanted to. In the 90's, though, Microsoft then forgot that they better *should* implement a mounting technique, because the average user probably wouldn't understand why there's a CD icon even when there's no CD inserted.

And for me its part of why Macs are better than PC's (along with auto CD eject and all that...)
