yeah I know.. lame title, but wouldn't you like to do that with your iBook?

    If you're smart, you'll take the lid off, dissolve the paint in 95+% isopropyl alcohol, and paint it yourself.



    And for a fraction of the price!

    Brad could u post the instructrions more precisely??



    I think a transparent iBook would be but.. hm.. could be an idea to get it the Jaguar look... <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

    i've seen <a href="http://www.applefritter.com/hacks/tronbook/"; target="_blank">this</a>. its not really full instructions, but gives you a good overview of the process, and the guy's personal experience with it.

    There is a guy over at MacNN 's ibook fora who has a page or three on modding your ibook.



    I actually have/had that page bookmarked on my other comp, but I guess I've lost that. You should go over there and ask.



    I for one have decided to do this to my ibook as soon as... as I get around to it.

    Nothing really fancy, just some color (maybe even black) to help me forget about the white.



    I forgot: I even mailed the guy about it, the address on his page was

    don't go spamming this guy! he really has a nice page. Ask him about the page, it's lovely.



    (although I think the Jaguar pattern is a bit far-fetched if you are doing it alone by hand).

    Yeah, my bro and his friend go into good detail about exactly what products they used and tried and how to test the products to make sure you won't damage anything. I believe Stan did his iBook over twice since he didn't quite like it the first time.



    We were thinking of doing mine up to look sorta like a NeXT laptop (black with NeXT logo) but never got around to it yet. Might wait until warrantee is up first.

    Yea Brad, I don't recall you ever posting any pictures of your G4 after the modifications...or at least I didn't want to dig around the computer setups thread to find them.

    Eh, I didn't really ever *finish* modding my G4 case. I removed the grey plastic inserts and stripped the paint out of the panels, but I never got around to shopping for cold cathodes. I might look into finishing it sometime this winter.



    The links that have already been posted here cover the whole process in excellent detail. No need for me to toss in my own explanation. The only thing different about modding a tower case is that you have to take out *everything* to remove the panels -- motherboard, power supply, EVERYTHING. If you do choose to dissolve the paint, be sure to use *lots* of fresh alcohol and nudge alcohol-soaked rags into the edges and corners (because the surface is curved, the alcohol naturally recedes from the edges).



    After a while, you can either scrape the paint off...







    Or just let it dissolve completely.
