External Hard Drive
I got a 6677 DVI stock TiBook, and I am basically maxed out on my HD space... I have like 2 gigs free...
Im looking to get an external Hard drive but im unsure as to what i should get... should i just get a bare drive and find my own case? what kind of drive should i get?
I'm looking for best value... i want as big as possible within a reasonable price. Also 7200 RPM would be nice...
should i wait for the new 200 Gig drives?
should i just wait to get an 80 Gig internal and get a case for my old 30?
I will be using the drive for DV and MP3s, hopefully i can fit all my applications on my internal drive and just use this drive for media...
Should i create a partition for editing?
I currently have a few projects that i want to do but i don't have the space to do them...
any suggestions?
I am willing to spend up to $300-$350 but preferably cheaper so i can get some ram...
***note i know there have been threads like this before, but i did a search for anything containing HD or Hard Drive in the last 30 days and nothing was relevant... due to the nature of this industry and how often things change, any threads older then that probably are irrelevant as their prices and opinions may now be inaccurate.

You can use it with any IDE drive, cdrw, HD,DVD, DVD-rw.
Its a great product I have two of them. If you ever need another they daisy chain together. Have Fun....

Buying separate External FW or SCSI drives is a ripoff.
There are a lot of choices when it comes to Harddrives, but IDE drives are still the best buy.
I suggest getting a multiple bay Firewire enclosure that takes EIDE drives.
I just recently purchased a 2 bay from <a href="http://www.caloptic.com/1394de.html"; target="_blank">http://www.caloptic.com/1394de.html</a>; for $115 (US) and for $119 (US) bought a 100 GB Western Digital drive. Most external 100 GB FW drives cost more than that and I still have an open bay.

FW drives are a ripoff. The cost of an IDE drive and an external FW enclosure with an IDE card costs less than most available external FW drives.
As the example shows. Buy 250 GB IDE drive for $299 and $115 external FW box for a total of $414. Or Buy an external FW 240 GB from the same manufacturer for $499.

i was referring to the fact that such a large drive was for sale... i thought 200 was the current Ceiling...
and thats what i am doing right now, comparing prices...
