Microsoft has released a significant 2.0 upgrade of its Word Flow keyboard for the iPhone, mainly adding a wide range of integrated search functions.

On a basic level Word Flow users can now search for GIFs, emojis, and other images to insert, Microsoft said. People can also hunt for contact info, and get results for news, weather, videos, restaurants, and other categories.

While typing the keyboard will suggest possible GIFs, icons, and words to insert. Accuracy should be improved meanwhile, especially when using the spacebar or the one-handed "arc" mode.

Cursor placement can now be controlled via 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, and Microsoft has lastly added new themes changing the keyboard's color scheme and background.

Word Flow is a free download, and runs on devices with iOS 9 or later.

Is this keyboard safe to use, or will it send my personal preferences to Microsoft?

The privacy statement used to say that everything you typed would be sent to MS. Not sure if that's still the case. That's why I deleted it immediately. Unfortunate because I was really intrigued by the one-hand keyboard layout and wanted to give it a try.

How would you expect the integrated search function etc to work without sending something back?
