This sounds good in theory but in practice lots of people will get a new phone and find a favourite app missing from the App Store when they try and download.

It seems more like a quick fix for a bad search algorithm than anything.

Problematic and bad apps need removing, whatever clever search algorithm is put in place. Especially when if you already had that bad app, you can still DL it

Good move. I'd also like to see them enforce a requirement for Apps to be optimised for iPhone 6 & Plus sized displays. My carrier's Wi-Fi calling and messaging App is still running in stretched iPhone 5 format two years after the iPhone 6 came out. That is all the way crazy.
Would be nice if Periscope (by Twitter) had a native iPad format.

So two months later and they've removed how many abandoned apps so far? I still see a ton.
