Apple releases iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10 GM seeds, Sierra to launch Sept. 20

Following Wednesday's iPhone event, Apple issued golden master versions of iOS 10, macOS 10.12 Sierra, watchOS 3, tvOS 10 and Xcode 8 to developers ahead of public releases this fall.

Golden master candidates are the final step in internal testing prior to public release, meaning developers have only a short amount of time left to test out their wares on Apple's pre-release software.

The iOS 10 build, dubbed 14A403, comes after Apple went through eight beta revisions, and arrives alongside watchOS 3 GM build 14S326. Both operating systems are set to debut on Sept. 13.

When it launches, iOS 10 will include a revamped user interface, improvements in notification handling, expanded 3D Touch support and deep third-party app integration with Siri and Maps. Apple's watchOS 3 boasts a redesigned interface that emphasizes speed and instant access to vital information.

Apple's macOS 10.12 Sierra build 16A319 marks the end of testing for the upcoming Mac operating system set to launch on Sept. 20. Siri integration is the main event for Sierra, though users can also expect a greater emphasis on iCloud syncing, interaction with iOS devices, device unlock via Apple Watch and more.

Finally, tvOS 10 golden master build 14T330 brings the refreshed set-top box OS closer to a release set for some time this fall. Along with a revamped user interface, tvOS 10 promises expanded Siri capabilities and single sign-on for over-the-top cable services.

Developers can download today's GM builds via Apple's developer website or through each platform's respective App Store.

In related news, Apple is calling on developers to submit final versions of upcoming iOS 10 apps for review ahead of next week's release.

I thought with there being no reference to Sierra that we might get an October release with a new Mac. Pity.

I remember when, at Apple events, there would be numerous times it would be said...

    "And it's available today!"

    Yeah, I'm just bitchin.

They seem pretty low key with Mac announcements.  Maybe we get a September announcement or release?

we're waiting for a new laptop.

I'm not seeing this reported anywhere, but I'm currently seeing 10.0.1 as my installed software version on my iPhone. Just upgraded to the GM as soon as it was released.

No sign of the developer GM macOS yet where I am.  I'm temporarily on the cost of Maine so maybe it will show up later here in the boonies.  It does get delivered by pigeon too I assume?

Downloads are really slow.  I'm only downloading the Xcode 8 GM (4.41GB).  It's been at it for 2 hrs with about 4 hrs remaining.

Too bad you don't have a iP 7 Plus with you -- to see how it compares with your DSLRs & Special lenses,  Likely, not nearly as good/flexible -- but a lot easier and more convenient.

If you're still getting some weather there, you should get some great shots!

Will the swimming feature of the new workout app work with Apple Watch Version 1?

Yes, I know it is not officially waterproof and the speaker is not protected, but I have taken my Apple Watch swimming for hundreds of laps, and would like to use it for swimming, even at the expense of the speaker.

This is not Steve Jobs' Apple anymore, unfortunately.

I'm an idiot!  It's not showing up in Updates because that's not how you get it. That will teach me to read more carefully!  It is always like this for the GM but i forgot, It's a 'purchase' not an 'update', you get the redeem code on the developer site.

September is iPhone month. It’ll be October before they remember they sell computers.

I can confirm that single sign on for tvOS 10 does not work for Comcast.

    FAIL Comcast!

I downloaded Sierra and iOS 10 tonight. Having trouble with Sierra on my late 2012 MacBookPro. Track pad gestures are not working, and Finder has become unresponsive multiple times. Anyone else having similar issues?

Report that to Apple, as one should when testing beta software.

Everybody can get macOS Sierra GM Release Candidate now. You do not have to wait 13, or 10, or 3 days. You need to login to your Beta account, and get your unique Redeem code there. Now make sure you are logged in to your Apple account in macOS Sierra Beta App Store. Then you can Redeem the code, and it will download macOS Sierra GM RC. And then install it, and the Beta tag is gone. :) I was told this did not work same way last year with the previous OS X Beta, so this is a bit of a new way to get the GM RC version. 16A319 is incorrect. It is A320, not 319.
