Yes, you must use smilies! And no, its not true. Litter just sits there making everything look ugly and dirty. Yuck. Very rarely does it get picked up. You've got to be pretty damn lazy to do it... like people who don't use turn signals. Grrrrr.

And it doesn't make it right either. Might as well endorse murder as it is good for the economy since it employs police and detectives and coroners and newscasters and so on.

What were we talking about? Oh yeah. Stupid people vandalizing the computers. Well, they are idiots whether they do it to Apples or Sonys or Compaqs. Plenty of them around.

As far as the look of the Apple stores they kind of freak me out. Too sterile. Makes me feel like I'm at the doctors office. Shudder.

Well, if you've ever seen Steve Jobs' office at Pixar you know where the inspiration for the Apple Stores came from. Bright, white and sparse. It just makes me uncomfortable.

Sorry, I had to do some work, people come to me with deadlines, the gaul... but fear not, order has been restored, for now.

Anyway, yes, it is true Otaku, but I didn't say it was right! Kinda depends where you live though. In Florence, every morning at 6AM the sweepers were out restoring the street to pristine condition. In Toronto, big plazas clean up after themselves but China Town doesn't, it all depends.

The SpyMac article blows a lot of things WAY out of proportion. And so do some of you.

I work at an Apple Store. I can't tell you how many times customers come in and say how wonderful and bright the store is. It is NOT a sterile environment.

As for getting trashed; I just don't see it to the extent that is being described. There are occaisonal problems; with thousands of people handling digital cameras, iPods, etc. every week, how could there not be. But I must say I am always impressed with how well our stuff holds up. iBooks get opened and closed and Flat Panel iMacs get manuvered constantly. Apple makes quality goods and they stand up to retail traffic.

I have seen almost no deliberate destruction or vandalism. I don't know where SpyMac is getting that from.

Yup. Glad there is no hard feelings. I just take(or should I say took) soo much goop from folks about my favoring the azteck (albiet for a short time) that I finallly snapped. Sorta like the anti-mac vibe in moste business... ::Shrudder:: oh well glad you understand me. peace.

The thing I see most often done to Mac computers are HD's renamed with a nonsensical chain of letters. It is unclear if it is just from genuine curiosity by an unwary consumer or a dimwit PC dude who thinks doing that would screw up a Mac. It's like an irresistible thing for people to do, like pushed in tweeter domes at a Best Buy store. I think it is a smart move where stores with Mac computers sitting out for demo by the general public are loaded with a "client account" that allows basic exploration of the system but restricts actions that can have destructive motives. Hopefully, when the computer is restarted the next day and logged back into client mode, everything is restored fresh and anew.

How about people just not be malicious, boundary-pushing idiots? Any possibility of that happening?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Sigh...

We wouldn't even be having this conversation if the world wasn't overrun with Class A Shitheads and Dipsticks.

My thoughts exactly! Maybe one day in the future they will figure out the faulty gene responsible for this behavior and cure the human race once and for all.
