1) The main article has a [U] indicating it's been updated, but I see no section indicating what info has been updated.
2) When people complain that Apple "doesn't do this or that" that other vendors have been doing for years, just remember this issue with Samsung when you want Apple (or other companies) to ship a product without an effective testing regiment.
the funny thing is Samsung stock price is near an all time high...but apple stock has 3% swings from a fake German report of slowing iphone sales that no one ever read...
Samsung's overall profits aren't heavily dependent on their smartphone / phablet sales. They sell all manner of consumer electronics and appliances.
A fine and jail time is appropriate for anyone who knowingly (intentionally) takes a Note 7 or other banned incendiary device onto a passenger airliner. A crash would result in massive loss of life plus huge economic damages. Treating such issues in a cavalier manner is a crime against humanity.
.
Simply taking the device on board is not banned. What is banned is having it powered on or charging. In the past two weeks I've flown on 5 different airlines based in 5 different countries and the flight attendants give the same message at the beginning of every flight: that Samsung Galaxy devices are required to be powered off and unplugged. This guy says he did that so he did what was required of him.

And this incident illustrates that this protocol is NOT ENOUGH to ensure passenger and plane safety... What would've happened in the phone combusted a mere 10 minutes later when it was in the air?!?!?! It already taxied out onto the tarmac and was preparing to take off! Someone was watching over this plane and its passengers to ensure this didn't happen mid-air!
ALL Samdung devices need to be BANNED and CONFISCATED at security screening before you even get NEAR the plane...
A very serious, honest question, with absolutely no intention of casting any aspersions. I am merely bringing up the (vague) likelihood of pathological behavior. Is it foolish to worry, given all the attention this is getting, that someone -- and we know the extent of anti-Apple virulence out there -- might be tempted to tamper with an iPhone to make waves? If so, how could Apple possibly protect against something like that?
The fact that another Galaxy Note 7 caught fire does not surprise me. However I am surprised that there were only 75 passengers on the flight. This is not like the flights I have been on lately.
Is this what Steve Jobs meant by saying he wanted them to go thermonuclear..... oh wait, he wanted to go Thermonuclear on them... guess they misunderstood
We recently read about a battery test that showed the iPhone had the worst battery life. Of course many real world users disputed that but it’s starting to look like the race to get better battery life caused Samsung to cut corners, push engineering over the edge. Will this be the issue that makes Samsung Jump The Shark?
This illustrates the fruits of Apple's persistent commitment to quality, excellence and responsibility regardless of the actions of their competitors, an adult, living resolutely in his truth. In stark contrast, Samsung's true nature is often revealed as being immature, like an insecure kid. They copy, lie, exaggerate, rush products to market, make spiteful TV ads, care less about employee health by not acknowledging their responsibility in worker compensation claims. The way they have handled this recall in every way shows Samsung for who they are to the core. They are Apple obsessed and they are reaction based. Apple couldn't care less about Samsung and remain true to their values, and innovate and improve at their own well considered pace.
“There is no evidence that this incident is related to the new Note7. We are working with the authorities and Southwest now to recover the device and confirm the cause."
This is serious stuff, and they're in Bagdad-Bob denial mode.

And yes. Some of Samsung's home appliances explode too:

I I thought the recall went "quite smooth" /s
I don't feel safe on planes right now.

They ought to be taken to the woodshed for this.
