Thats great! I'm surprised they didn't try to spray paint an iMac grey and pass it off as the profile.

Almost as funny as when Microsoft sent out a one sheet promoting something and the screen on the computer was a Mac GUI!.

when was the last time gateway had a product or ad campaign that really succeeded? they always put out such "great" stuff...but they never seem to get anywhere with it.

They are always ripping off apple, and they especially never seem to get ANYWHERE in doing so.

apple shouldn't sue, but they could run an ad..."Our laptops are so good even Gateway uses them in their ads"....g

that picture is clipart, it happens all the time.

Compaq sent out some reseller material last year, and the model in the picture was using a Dell.

Even Apple has done it, they one had a Power Computing clone in one of their ads by mistake,

Wow? gateway must be in pretty deep sh*t to resort to use other companies computers in their advertising.

Hey maybe gateway's being paid to use Apples in their ads.

Like the microsoft tries the switch campaign thing, using clip art...

it may be just clipart...but obviously they like the look of the powerbook so much as a computer that they used it....but then we all know just how beautiful it is, so it shouldn't be a surprise...still, you would think they would want to use their own computer in their own ads....g

and if apple did use a clone in an ad that isn't such a big mistake....a clone was still licensed by apple and running mac os....gateway is using a non-pc mac laptop to sell their pc laptops.....

it doesn't make sense to me to put clipart in an ad like that. a company that sells widgets should be trying to show off the benefits of their widgets [or possibly, the detriments of the competitors' widgets]. and if they are going to use clipart, someone should be reviewing it, and making sure that they aren't advertising [in a positive way] a competitor's product.

I really dont understand why on earth Gateways would do something so silly like that. It doesnt make sense and it shows they really dont give a fvck about their own products.

I wonder if Apple could litigate?

they do it because they are cheap-a$$ bastards. They paid Getty Images $50 for the artwork rather than pay for a photoshoot and a model. How they thought that nobody would notice, I'll never know.
