I have just over $8,000.00 CND coming the second week of January to buy a new mac.

Currently I'm enjoying a dual 533 g4 with 896megs of ram and a 60gig HD.

I'm giving this to my mom for christmas and buying myself a new one.

So, should I wait till feb.?

when would you make the purchase and what would you buy?

why buy a new one ???? ... what you have is still great .... I'd stash the money so you'll have it when a REAL upgrade comes along (G5 or 512mhtz system bus, or whatever)

just my opinion of course, but....

    I guess I should Clarify.

I have to pay $400 permonth For this copmuter I'm on right now. The lease is killing me. So My mom has said that she'll pay for half the lease per month but would want the computer at Our house. Which is cool cause right now she has this PC that is giving her no end of trouble and I can't help with it cause Windows makes my teeth itch and I've become unfamiliar with that nightmare. So This $8,000 <part of an inheritance> is coming the second week of january so I can buy a computer outright.

So I leave with, $200 a month payments for a computer I still get to use at home, and i get a NEW computer for the office.

Yes this computer is great. Sadly though I can't Float $400 a month on top of all the other bills and Building my bank account so I can leave home <again>.

    So what would You do?

    flick.

Hrm... at $400 a month, even in Canadian dollars, that would only be worth it for, say, four months or less. You could buy one just like yours outright with four or five of those payments. Who's ripping you off? Or have you only been paying that much for a short amount of time?

    What would I do ??? ...

buy out the lease if you can.

If you can't .... use the $ to buy a TiBook.

(It's as good as a tower, but you can take it everywhere.)

Expandability doesn't really matter ... just add a firewire drive if you need more room.

AND ..... don't EVER lease ANYTHING again !!! It is NEVER a good deal.

I can't buy out the lease or I would In a heart beat, its a three year night mare and I'm in 1.5 of those years.

By the end my lease will have soaked me $13,000. I never saw this number on any paper, if I had i would have never done this.

    any who.

Ti books are sweet. here is what I'm thinking, obviously the purchase will take place after MWSF so this totally depends on what happens there.

Buy Middle of the road G<whatever is here> and buy an iBook with the remainder.
