    yes I said it.

Apple should just leave China. The hell with them. Apple will take a short term hit. But I'm sick of their crap.
Even with ZERO China sales Apple's revenues and profits will far surpass Google. Yet Google is worth more than Apple right now taking cash into consideration.

Move all the factories out of China. Stop selling iPhones their.

Another big mistake by Cook.  Pinning all of Apple's future in a communist state. A totally irresponsible thing to do.

Instead of growing the brand in the USA, Europe, Japan, ect he went for the quick fix in China. Now its biting him in the ass.
LOL from the guy who gets crazy when the stock dips.

This is happening to my wife's iPhone 6. She's had it for about a year and this just started happening this week.  We are in the US.
You do know that even iPhones break?

time for a new phone man.
With the battery still showing 90% capacity and 7 months left of Applecare Plus? No, it's not.
That's what Applecare is for. Turn it in and get a new phone man.

No company can make a product that never breaks
    It's not always that simple.

The phone passes MRI for the battery diagnostics and wasn't showing unexpected shutdowns when the results were available. The Apple store in West Edmonton Mall was willing to swap the phone for the fellow sitting next to me on Saturday but only after performing a firmware restore and the fellow testing it for a week or two.

My friend in the UK is going to try that step first.

Out of nowhere, this started happening to my Japanese 6S last week. It would get to 20 percent battery, and I would always put it into Low Power mode. Then a few minutes later it would just power down properly as if I had instructed it to. When I try to turn it back on it would say to plug it in. Once it turned back on anyways, declared that 15% of the remaining battery life had magically disappeared, leaving it at 6%... 5%... 4%... then it powered off again. I actually watched the battery tank in real time. Plugging it in is the only thing that revives it, and when it does come back a few seconds after connecting to an outlet it's already at ~30%. ?? This happened twice in the same week. All the Tokyo Apple Store Genius Bars were booked solid for the next week, so no help there. Since the shutdowns I have powered the device off for a few minutes, rebooted it, forced it to stay plugged in for a few hours at 100%, and haven't had any more incidents. The other day I ran my battery down to 4% through normal usage and it stayed on until I got home and plugged it in, so I'm hoping that it got over whatever funk caused that behavior.

Nobody hears about this until this article and suddenly “me too” start crawling out of the woodwork, and “just this week” too. My what an interesting coincidence to think about. We never heard from anybody about Touch Disease until a 9TO5MAC article I believe. Then everybody suddenly had it, another interesting coincidence.

Happens occasionally to my 6S when out in autumn or lower temperatures (certainly not zero or below though), intermittent so probably impossible to replicate or test in a store. It's not a failing battery as I'm still getting 1.5 days out of a charge. Maybe happened a dozen or so times when there's more than 20% left. Annoying certainly as I'm usually out walking the dog, but not fatal.

Oddly I have found that waiting 30 seconds or so and putting something metallic against the lightning connector (I tend to use the headphone jack as it's a convenient thing I always have with me) then pressing the on button with the metal still against the lightning connector brings it back to life. May be coincidence but it's brought it back to life every time so far.

Don't think I'll be joining any campaigns calling for a recall though, that would be very un-British

The reason iPhones were built there, was because it was ILLEGAL to build them in the USA. The EPA has limits on certain chemicals that are used in the manufacturing process of the iPhone, that simply made it impossible to build here. Steve Jobs said as much in one of his many interviews. The fact that it's cheaper, and that the sheer number of industrial specialists in China makes it about the only feasible place on the planet to build iPhones in the quantities that the global market demands. Now, perhaps a change in the administration will change things. Perhaps the EPA is being too strict, perhaps the trade negotiations are unfair, perhaps being able to repatriate Billions of dollars to the USA at 15% and a much lower tax rate will mean that many of these jobs will come back to America. I mean, Austin, TX is enjoying the manufacturing jobs for the Apple Pro Macs, and perhaps many more manufacturing sites will open up soon. But, the problem is hardly relegated to China, and China only. The Chinese market is an emerging, multi-Billion market, and Apple is wise enough to go after profits wherever they may be.

Apple leaving China would be good for the stock.

Yes, current profits would drop about 25% but Wall Street liars can say Apple could re-enter China later. Cause stock is never about what's going on NOW, but what the FUTURE is.
Glad you're not running Apple or my company

Isn't that the way "news" works ?

I, for example, was hardly going to contact a "news" outlet of any stripe and tell them that the thing that, as far as I knew, was only happening to me (and then only very occasionally) should be published in any form. I'm not that much of a narcissist.

But, as other people seem to be in the same position - and none of them are being shrill or confrontational about it - doesn't it seem entirely reasonable to add a comment where appropriate ? Isn't that what these message boards are for ?? If I have a similar issue to a reported iPhone/iPad issue, I may comment on it. If I read a gripe about Macs I don't, as I don't have one.

FWIW, this has been happening to me for over a year (showing how infrequently it occurs) so it's not iOS 10 related.

but my point is Apple has to stop pinning all its hope and future in China.
Y'know, you're right...they should definitely start focusing on, say, Mars...
WAY fewer potentially surly customers and inconvenient government regulators there.
Always best to just run when the going gets tough.

If you look at Apple's forum you will see people have talked about every issue before there was a tipping point that caused t to become major news shared between tech forums or major news outlets.

My iPhone 6s has been shutting down with 50% battery - it suddenly goes to zero and won't restart. After about 20 minutes it will restart and carry on as normal.  It only seems to happen when I am outside in lower temperatures, so I don't think it's restricted to China -I am in the uk - nor does it seem to be a political stance against Mr Trump!
My MBAir develops issues with scrolling, 'get info', and toolbar commands, but it only seems to happen when it's running at high temperatures...
Yes, practically every "device" has a potential of performance issues when operating near or beyond its recommended 'optimal' range.

FUC you,do you konw if Apple leave China,Apple will not far from bankruptcy.Do you know how much profits Apple income in China? I love products of apple. But you,Shame on you!
only about 25% of Apple's profits come from China.  Its a big chunk but not even close to making Apple go bankrupt.

Apple can get rid of China and still make much more revenue and profits than Google, Facebook, Tesla, and Amazon COMBINED.
The Chinese market is an emerging market, billions market, do you think apple will give up?

Had this problem on my 6s at the beginning of the year. Exactly these symptoms.  Tried all the normal 'fixes'. It was the model sporting the Samdung A9 and it was widespread by all accounts.  Apple simple swapped mine and it has been perfect since. The replacement was the TSMC variant.

My friend had the same problem. We tried everything including reinstallation of iOS. In the end, Apple changed a new 6s Plus for her. She lives in the tropics.

My daughter phone started doing this and it seem to get worse with time. There was some website which various antidotal fixes, like reboot the phone and reset the phone or restoring from a back up removing some apps which seem to be more prone to causing the issue, nothing she did cleared the issue. On Apple website they indicated you need to update to OS 10, and for my daughter this seem to clear the issue. After the update the phone did not have the random shut downs. The fact the software update fix this issue tells me it was not a hardware issue. She also updated a number of apps at the same time so not sure if the app update or OS update really solved the problem. This issue was only with here phone not any of the other iphone 6 and 6S in the house.

I have been experiencing similar issue but with battery levels between high 20+% to highest 38% since iOS 10. I have been submitting bug reports through feedback app. In latest betas of iOS 10.2, it seems to have improved as frequency of its occurrence has significantly decreased. Just on beta 3 of iOS 10.2 for 2 days and haven't encounter this bug (yet). Let's hope it is resolved in the final iOS 10.2.

Started happening couple months ago on both my son's phone and about a month ago on my wife's. Battery between 30 and 70% and just shuts down. My son's was so bad I went to apple store and they told me we had to "train" the battery but we did that and no luck. We were forced to buy an iphone 7 because it go so bad. Class action lawsuit? Now my wife's is doing the same thing. My iphone 6 still ok for now. Not sure why theirs are doing it while mine isn't.

Happened to me since updating to iOS 10. Shutting itself off a few times when the battery still at around 30-40%. Had to charge it to get it to turn on again.
    Definitely a software-related issue.

Same problem here. Have been on the an AppleCare case for this for weeks but no result. Mine turns off normally around 20% when under some load. It sometimes turns on immediately again or sometimes I have to charge it.

AppleCare case still ongoing with no resolution (and admittedly disappointingly slow progress, or shall we say stopped progress from Apple)
